Cardinals Become Birds Of Prey, Set Aim For Top Ranked Knights

Records: LexCath (8-1) | Scott County (8-1)

BGP Ranking: LexCath (#1 in 4A) | Scott County (#4 in 5A)

Series History: LexCath leads 6-1 all-time

Table Setter: The Knights, ranked #1 in class 4A, march north into the 'Bird's Nest' to meet the Cardinals, who are fresh off a head turning victory over big school contender Ballard. Defense has led the way for Scott County following their lone loss to Frederick Douglass. They pitched three consecutive shutouts before surrendering thirteen points to the Bruins. Lexington Catholic will look to put stress on that unit with an offense averaging 44 points per game since being shackled by Covington Catholic seven weeks ago.

Quarterback Jackson Wasik has been a revelation in his first season as a starter, completing over 70% of his throws for 29 touchdowns and just four picks. Sophomore Andrew Hickey takes the snaps for Scott County. His numbers are hamstrung by the wing-t offense he operates, but he has all the physical tools to make a defense pay dearly for loading the box.

LexCath has posed one of the very few riddles that has consistently befuddled Jim McKee throughout his long and decorated career. After besting the Knights in his first encounter with them in 2003, he's come down on the losing end six straight times. Last year's 41-40 shootout ended with a missed field goal by the Cardinals and featured over 1,100 yards of offense. LexCath tailback Walker Hall provided two hundred of those yards and a pair of scores on the ground.

Scott County wins by 3TDs or more.

In the words of Lee Corso, “not so fast my friend.”  Lex Cath will start throwing as soon as they get off the bus and will be hard to defend.  I’ve seen it first hand.  Better be able to get quick pressure on the QB and contain him because he likes to tuck and run.  Doubt that Ballard’s offense is near as precise as Catholic’s.  I look for Catholic to load the box.  We’ll see how that goes.  I look for a game in the 30’s by both teams and a nail biter.

I hope you are right.

Lex Cath has gotta jump out to a quick two score lead. If the other team is holding onto the ball for long, sustained drives and keeping the Knights O off the field, that is going to play right into their hands.

If Lex Cath passing game is as efficient as I've heard it has been recently, then they shouldn't have much trouble pulling away. But WR drops, and/or quick 3 and outs will spell trouble.

The new TP94 Power Ratings have it:

Lexington Catholic 105.41 Scott County 95.33

Does anyone know if this game will be broadcast on the radio tonight?

I think Catholic wins. The Wing T is old, boring and easy to defend. Play disciplined D and the O will take care of the rest.

Would you please post that link for us.  I went to YouTube but did not immediately have any success finding it.  I did find a bunch of fraudulent broadcasts and for the life of me can't understand why YouTube doesn't police that better.

This is last week's game. tonight's won't be up until game time, but it's the same channel @theguru
