Is someone able to post this video of a hit, so others can see what type of hit it was. Since there seems to be some debate about it.

I don’t know how to do the copy paste thingy but I did see the hit. It was an awkward collision with contact from both sides, it appeared to have evidence of a high low hit.  Actually one from the front and the other from an back angle.

Hope the young man is ok, unfortunately still the risks of the game whether illegal hit or not. Vicious and dangerous sport with lots of uncontrollable testosterone flowing…

Ok just now catching up with this thread. Both blocks were illegal blocks, and both blocks were by both teams biggest and most physical players. Which is going to make a blindside block even bigger. B

  • Anyone got the stats of the game?  That debate should get me through the rest of my workday.

How does he say it? “this drips of sarcasm “…?

7 years of undefeated football is impressive…even by Highlands standards, don’t you think?

It would be nice to get an update. I’m staying up hoping someone from Highlands will post something!

It is freshman football. How good is the class in front and class behind ? The current senior Ryle class was lights out at Frosh level. How is that working out for varsity ?

The game is on YouTube - you can search Highlands vs Ryle Freshman.  It was, IMO, a dirty hit.  Certainly not Ryle’s only unsportsmanlike play of the game.  Definitely scary when a child is lying face down on the turf not moving.  It appears he will be fine.  Hopefully lessons learned across the board.

The officials agreed, immediately ejected him, and took his name from Ryle’s coach. I’m just glad to hear the Highlands player avoided a more serious injury.

OK, hate going down these rabbit holes, but here are 2 plays from the same game. First is the "dirty" play from the Ryle player who was flagged, ejected, and cannot play next week.

The second is a block from a Highlands player (who appears to be the same player who was injured) making a blindside block and flexing over top of a Ryle player.

If one is dirty and worthy of all of this criticism, then the other is too.

It wasn’t the same player. The call at the end of the game was the correct one, and I’d be saying the same if it was a Ryle player on the receiving end of that hit.

The first one was DEFINITELY dirty, but, you're right, the second one was as well. Ridiculous on both ends.

OK, but is the Highlands play a blindside block? Did he or did he not posture over the player afterwards? Both are penalties, are they not? Is that a dirty play?

The first was a helmet to helmet launch. The second was by a kid a foot taller than the defender and he hit him with his chest. It looked more like a screen in basketball. They are not the same play. If you want to call them both illegal blindside blocks, okay.

Your opinion is valid, but I'm curious as to what is your opinion of the other play/hit with the flex standing over top. Is one worse?similar? completely different?
