Boone County 59 Simon Kenton 56

The real season doesn't start until late February so I can wait, a few losses during the regular season mean nothing if you make it to Lexington in March. Get well Mike.

After watching this game tonight, it is my opinion that the guards that SK is playing right now are not capable of handling the ball under pressure and make too many turnovers. SK will struggle against quality teams that press while Mike is out.

I will give Boone credit, they made the plays in critical times to win the game.

Sk with Hester wins by 20...

Maybe not by 20, i'd say 10 plus, just sayin.;)

Give credit where credit is due, BC won the game, SK is talented enough to win without Hester, they lost but in the grand scheme of things it means nothing, it will give BC confidence but I don't think this loss hurts SK.

I've said from the beginning that Boone would be a contender and surprise some people. They are young. 1 freshman started, and another saw significant minutes. I don't think they are a 6 to 10 ranked team in NKY like everyone had been saying at the start of the season. They are top 5. Nobody can say Boone hasn't played anybody now. Boone is for real.

The JV game was also good and pitted 2 undefeated JV teams. I believe SK JV was something like 9-0 going into the game, and Boone was 5-0. I believe SK JV is very junior/sophomore dominated. Boone JV has freshmen that play a lot. Final score was 54-53. Like their varsity, Boone JV is also missing a starting guard (Popp, out with a knee fracture) who makes them even better. The future looks bright for Boone.

Boone vs St. Henry is looking to be a great matchup in a couple a weeks. And everyone was ripping the 33rd in the preseason.

It was a typical Trent Steiner loss, ahead by double digits only to throw the game to curb. This team will struggle without Hester, plus they cannot finish teams when they have the chance.

Last I checked, Trent doesnt wear a uniform and defend players. He didnt miss the bonus at the end of the game did he? They need to learn how to win without Hester or they will be an easy team to beat.

But when was the last time a SK team was able to finish a basketball game on a consistent basis. Some of that, not all, but some of it has to do with coaching, he has to put his players in the best postion to win. It all reflects on the coaches.

You are right on. No Steiner didn't have a uniform on, but how can you not try to slow the game down with an 11 point lead in the closing minutes of the game? They were fouled a few times but the rest of the time SK was playing like they were trailing.

The biggest game of the year will be Feb 9th when SK goes down to Shelby Co and takes on the Rockets. Mike will be back by then and we will see how this team and Mike plays against the defending champs. Cant wait for this one.

Should be a really good game, if everything goes according to plans, Mike will have been back for a little over a week and hopefully he will be back in the swing of things.

That should be a very good game. Hester will need to be on his game for that matchup. Shelby is a very tall team. I was impressed with their height in the King of the Bluegrass. They don't score very many points which may hurt them against Simon Kenton. Shelby plays extremely tough defense that teamed with the length and athleticism make them a tough mathcup for the Pioneers offense. It will be tough on Mike Hester to be all go for this game. If he doesn't come back until early February he will need at least two weeks to get himself back into the shape he needs to lead his team. He will make a difference but the grind of a big game so soon after a long lay-off will have its affects. I think the Shelby-Simon game will be a good test for Coach Steiner's supporting cast. They will have to step up big to pull of that win on the road.
