You mention him being a 2 time high school state champion. His high school teammate who also played on those state champion teams was Frank Robinson. Yes, that Frank Robinson. That has to be the greatest high school teammate pair of all time. Both became World Champions, MVP's and Hall of Famers. In addition, Russell became the first African American NBA head coach and Robinson became the first African American MLB Manager. Amazing. Legends. Both great human beings and leaders.

I'm not going to argue that the should be better, but Eddie Murray and Ozzie Smith were also high school teammates and both ended up in the baseball hall of fame.  Obviously can't touch the number of championships.  Bill Russell paired with the last man off the bench for his high school team would likely beat out most other teammate combos.
