St. Xavier 11 Russell County 1 (KHSAA State Tournament Final)

Featured Replies

Congratulations to the St. Xavier Tigers, your 2022 Kentucky State Baseball Champions.

Crooked numbers in the 3rd and 5th innings propel the Tigers to the program's 9th state title, more than any other school in state history. Ben Purnell had a big night at the dish with a pair of doubles and 4 RBIs. Jake Gregor (4 IP, 5H, 1 R) and Ben Tedesco (3 IP, 2 H) combined to pitch a great ballgame to compliment the two big offensive innings.

If not for 1 play McCracken County might have been in this spot.

Only 2 of St. X's starters were seniors losing seniors Jake Bennett and John Paul Jardina. Return two UofL commit pitchers with Ty Starke and Jake Gregor.   Should have a shot to repeat but losing Bennett's big bat will be hard to replace.

McCracken county loses 5 seniors, with Jack Bennett being a big loss. Mos likely they will be back to try again to take a crack at the top prize.

Where is Bennett going to play his college ball?

Two Bennetts:

-Jake Bennett, St. X catcher, is committed to San Jacinto JC in Texas

-Jack Bennett, McCracken County, is committed to Western Kentucky University
