I would say PT would be close to 4A with their #'s.

Agreed.  Marshall County has completely turned into a basketball and soccer school.   I'm not sure if it is a culture thing in the system or if it just the kids not liking contact like they used to... Sorry to sound like a 90 year old man in the movies, but I just remember Marshall was always a bunch of tough ol' boys back in the day.  
I believe McCracken can easily become THE football team in the area.  Unfortunately, McCracken's best span football wise was when Coach Smith was a PT and the money man was on board.... now PT has the money man and McCracken has Coach Smith.  Straight swap there.... I do believe McCracken can still be a football school, it's just going to take the right guy to spark the flame in the kids and the community.

I’m not totally sure McCracken will ever be a football school, at this point it would definitely be more of a baseball or basketball school. But I would also never say never.

Real support for any athletic program goes beyond just giving money when your kid is playing, but caring for a school and its program for 10-20 years or a lifetime. McCracken County has done really well when you consider the short time its been around in most all their sports teams and other competitive programs.

Graves has more than 1000 students, I believe more like 1300.

ADA has been frozen so most districts numbers that are being reported are from 2019.  I can tell you for a fact that Graves numbers are closer to 1,000 students than what you are saying at 1179 and they are losing more students consistently.

Is the Graves loss from the tornado? Where are they going?

Since General Tire closed Graves has lost students/families living in Graves.  Last I heard they were losing almost 100 students per year in the entire district.  Several students that live in the county have chosen to attended Mayfield after attending Graves Middle School and several families that live on the county lines have taken kids to other schools over the years.  The tornado has not helped the population what so ever and it is only going to get worse.  Last number I heard of students in the high school was from a very reliable source and it is around 1,080 students.

This thread isn't about Graves potentially dropping but about Coach Smith at McCracken.  I am curious to see what offense he decides to run.  McCracken in the past has been a spread team and under Coach Clark used a lot of spread/TE formations to run the ball successfully and then hit you over the top with some of the good WR they have had over the years.  I know when he was at PT they were a wishbone team and were very successful doing it.  When they tried to switch to more of a spread offense they struggled and he was out of a job the next season.

Drives me crazy at times, but McCracken never has a Quarterback take the snap under center. Play action from that set makes sense lots of rimes as well as short yardage situations.
