2007 Bullitt East

Featured Replies

The key to Bullitt East's success will be the play of the defensive line. If the line can create pressure on the quarterback. The game will be won in the trenches. How good do you think Woodford's line will be this year compared to Bullitt Easts. East is returning many starters on the line.

Woodford returns 3 of 5 starters on the offensive line. The others have had significant playing time last year. Woodford will have a running game as well.

Here is the Bullitt East schedule for the 2007 season:

08-25 Woodford County @ Papa John's (Ray Adams Charger Classic)

08-31 DeSales @ BE

09-07 Bullitt Central @ BE

09-14 Louisville Central @ Louisville Central

09-21 Marion County @ Marion County-District Game

09-28 Fairdale @ BE

10-05 North Bullitt @ North Bullitt-District Game

10-12 BYE

10-19 Larue County @ BE-District Game

10-26 Dupont Manual @ Manual Stadium

11-02 Nelson County @ BE

Bullitt East must feel pretty good about what they have coming back. I give them props for creating a pretty darn tough AAAA schedule. Their running attack is tough as long as they are at least equal to their opponent up front. If they face a talented defensive line and cannot generate movement (it looks as though they are going to see some pretty darn good def. fronts), they struggle to operate offensively. Curious to see if they diversify any offensively or just keep with their basic split back veer. I would think that they could GREATLY help themselves by being able to throw the ball to the middle of the field and getting folks to honor different formations (to get defenders out of the box)

Many of these new opponents are going to be in a different league than those within their former district, where they could get +/- 7 wins with a very average football team. When all is said and done in '07, those final three games will factor heavily in the playoff success or lackthereof. Larue, Manual, Nelson will be a pretty tough road . . . especially since Larue follows their most emotional game vs. North Bullitt and an open date.

Best of luck to Bullitt East. I predict 6-4, but the Chargers could make a very deep run in AAAA. It seems that AAAA may very well be the class to be in with the new alignment.

I don't know how much "diversity" you will see, but I do think BE is going to try to attack the middle of the field more. Plus, BE is going to have a big threat at WR, something that was missing last year. Nathan Brooks should have a big year at WR, he has good speed and is 6'2". He will be a matchup problem for most teams. He started to show some glimpses last year as a sophomore and the coaches are expecting him to produce this year.

He might end up getting beat out for the job. Good kid, needs to learn not to get down on himself when he has a bad couple of plays (like the whole team last year). Tough scrimmage this week. Looking forward to seeing the DT who signed with Notre Dame also.

Running game is looking better as a couple of the kids bulked up and BE is pretty much 4 deep at RB and throw in the QB and they have 5 strong runners.

Last year if the kids got down early they were done .. hopefully that was youth and they will overcome that this year.

Heard North Bullitt didn't look too good in their scrimmage last Friday night.

mh,

Who are the two opponents for Bullitt East's two scrimmages?

Did they scrimmage at camp?

They did scrimmage at camp (don't remember who against, I'll find out later) but from what I understand they are just playing PRP Friday night here at BE.

Scrimmaged with Ballard, Paul Dunbar and Bell County. Only lost to Bell County.

I don't think that is correct.

Okay

That is also what I heard . . . which would make them have one scrimmage too many and one more this Friday vs. PRP??

Just a little confused . . .

All I heard about was Dunbar. I'm not sure about the other teams, I think they were on the other end of the field.

That was probably it, I wasn't there so I was getting second hand information.

However, teams have multi team scrimmages so how does that work. I also heard North Bullitt played against two teams last Friday night and has another game this Friday. Of course I could have heard that wrong also.

As far as I know, multi team scrimmages count as only 1 scrimmage. So North could've had a multi team scrimmage last week and then still be able to have a game this week.
