And yet, Marvin is not considering, at least publically of bringing him back. Won't even talk about him. If it is simply because he is mad at Odell for getting suspended, when he is dealing with an addiction, that is childish of Marvin and he is putting his feelings in front of the team's desires.

 

Now if it is that he thinks that he will be more of a detriment for some reason to this team than the stupidity of Henry, than that is different.

I see that, but to say that CH won't affect you negatively in the long run and Thurman will is a reach IMO. Especially since Thurman is still being subjected to drug testing and apparently is passing.

I could see that but with all second, third, fourth chances that Marvin has given, it sure seems out of character for him to go this far.

If Henry is an issue of maturity and Marvin is convinced he has learned from it while Odell's is a physical issue that Marvin believes Odell is not able to overcome, that would be the difference.

 

That is the only thing I can think of that would explain it. Make sense, I am not sure I would go that far but explain his mindset.

Let him go... He had a great rookie season, but he is the one who screwed his career up, not the Bengals.

 

If he comes back to the team, that sends out the entirely wrong precedent to every other player... Every kid coming out of college... That behavior has to stop, and O'Dell can be the example.

Things must be bad, Henry has 3 strikes, Odel two, I also believe things are worse than we'd like to believe. In a perfect world I'd take him back but if it makes this team better with him not on it I'll take that.

As I said in another thread concerning this matter, Marvin has a personal score with Odell Thurman. I have no idea what it is, or what Odell has done, but in listening to Marvin's press conferences over the last year it is quite clear that he has clearly drawn the ire of ML. My personal opinion is that it has to do more with the nature of what has happened. Odell fails(reported that he just didn't show up) a drug test. Odell doesn't show up when he is supposed to for camp. When he does show up, he is out of shape. After each of these events Odell promises to stay clean, that he knows it's his last chance, I even think he was a major story for ESPN the magazine about this, no? And each successive time he does just the opposite.

 

But I'll never understand how you can keep Henry and not Odell. Odell clearly has more upside, and helps the team more IMO. I think that Marvin feels that he knows what he's going to get with Henry(stupid immature kid), but has no clue whether or not he can rely on Odell. Marvin doesn't trust him, hence Odell is gone.

For his sake, I hope so. At some point getting your life on track takes precedent over football... And if removing him from this team at this time teaches him a lesson, then everyone should hope for the same.

I think he is a complete waste, but on the football field he can get things done! None of our LB even come come to be able to make the type of plays he can. I think we need him. He is an animal and can cover people.
