No. There is a reason they used a third round pick to take Ahmed Brooks

I like Brooks and think he might be a steal in the long run.

I think Odell's problems are deeper than most of you think.

Which begs the question.....did he come from Georgia with these problems and the Bengals did not research it enough or did they develop/relapse after he got to the Bengals?

Good question. My guess would be all the money got to him which led to more and more problems big and badder drugs and alcohol.

I thought those smaller drugs weren't gateway drugs that led to bigger and badder drugs???:sssh:

Deeper than Lawerence Taylor's? O'Dell passed lots of drug tests while he was suspended. Otherwise the DUI wouldn't have got him, the drug tests would have. He may have drug problems, but he was dealing with them and more than a year without football should be enough time to get some counseling/rehab/help and move on with his life. He isn't the first football player to use hardcore drugs.

Brooks played as a rookie and was benched. O'dell played as a rookie and was a ball hawk. I know he made mistakes on and off the field, but he made big play after big play last year. IMO he's the difference between the 05' and 06' Bengals.

I understand all that you are saying but with Marvin's actions to remove his locker and reassign it to another player within hours of him being suspended, for MARVIN to be taking such a hard stance when he has been the Pillsbury Doughboy on the other players, it sures screams that there is more to the story than we know.

Please explain how ODell is the reason for an inconsistent offense.

IMO Thurman cost Marvin the playoffs this year. Thats a pretty good reason to rid yourself of him.

But he did the locker thingy midseason and has been pretty much taking this stance since the middle of the season. There is not much difference on what he said at the end of the season and the stance he took midseason.

He wasn't, but everyone's offense (other than the Colts) is inconsistent and even Manning will falter in the playoffs. Thurman was HUGE part of the defenses success (takeaways) last year. He was the missing link this year. We didn't have that "defensive playmaker" that you want us to trade for. He was suspended for the season.

On the defensive side of the ball, I 100% agree with you. Missing him was a huge, huge issue.

I do think there was also offensive issues that led to the missing of the playoffs. While he hold a large share of blame, I am not positive he should hold it all.

I would with open arms... everyone makes mistake or 2 or 3...

And????????????? Marvin knew his defense (especially his linebacker) weren't very good when they lost Thurman and Pollack. If he didn't than he should stop coaching football.
