Big time!!  Eliano helped develop All-American cornerback Sauce Gardner at Cincinnati this past season, and the Bearcats had the second-best passing defense in the country with an average of 169.2 passing yards allowed per game.

OSU interviewed 4 DB coaches last Friday.

Sounds like Eliano will be coaching safeties instead of CB at OSU.

Fick preaches being a top 10 program. This is what it looks like. Other programs are going to want your assistants after you have a year like UC just had.

The fun part is seeing the types of candidates Fick and UC are going to attract because of the success.

Definitely hurts losing Perry from a recruiting standpoint. He had UC in on some really good 4* Texas kids in the 23 class.

Kerry Coombs and OSU parted ways this week. I wonder if he and Eliano will basically swap positions?

I could see him being brought in to replace Brian Mason as ST coordinator but doubt he would be brought in to coach CB/DB.

Not official yet, but sounding like Fick will be adding former Bearcat Walter Stewart to his staff to help coach the "sniper/dollar" position.

Stewart spent time at Tennessee as a grad assistant under Butch Jones then had stops at Eastern Kentucky, Florida A&M, Northern Illinois, and the past 3 seasons at Temple.

Walt was apart of 4 Big East Championship UC teams from 2008-2012 and was graded out as a 3rd or 4th round draft pick before his career was ended in 2012 due to a neck injury.

Very strong addition to the staff that will help replace the recruiting of Brian Mason.

Marcus Freeman tried to get him on staff at Notre Dame as well.

Gino Guidugli is being elevated to Offensive Coordinator to replace Mike Denbrock. Excited for him and his family. He has patiently waited for this opportunity at UC.

Also looking like Kerry Coombs will indeed be added to the staff to help replace Brian Mason (ST Coordinator) and Perry Eliano with the DB's.

OL Coach Ron Crook is expected to be replaced as well but I'll wait until the name is dropped publicly. Fickell wants more development from that position group. Gino already has his man for the job and it is someone that should elevate that OL room.

Safeties Coach Colin Hitcshler is also being elevated to Co-DC with Mike Tressel. He was on the short list of candidates when Freeman left for ND. As safeties coach, he's had a big role in the development of future draft picks James Wiggins and Darrick Forrest, as well as Bryan Cook this past season.

Still need to add a TE coach with Denbrock now gone, but that is probably going to be a promotion from within.

The name on staff that would make sense is Offensive Quality control coach Michael Brewster. He was a first team All American and two time All Big Ten center during his career at Ohio State and went on to play 4 season in the NFL before starting his coaching career.

Overall, I think Fick has done a great job this off season replacing assistants and upgrading the staff.

Great pick up for UC, IMO. Coombs is a phenomenal coach and incredible motivator.

See below.... Not saying they will land the kid , but UC isn't even thought of if Coombs isn't on staff. Excited to see what he does on the recruiting trail.
