I have an office in Atlanta and no one down there calls it A-town. Its either Hotlanta or the Dirrrty South.

I am from Huntington WV and attended Huntington High School ---- we were called the "Pony Express" Over the years our arch rival Huntington East and Huntington High consolidated . . . much to my dismay they chose to keep with Huntington East's mascot and they are now called the Highlanders.:irked:

I always thought "Pony Express" was one of the great nicknames and I agree it should have been kept over "Highlanders".

While we are on the subject of mascots is there anyone out there that has any answers as to where Bracken County got Polar Bears and Campbell County got Camels??

 

The story that I had always heard about the Polar Bears was that their gym was a good trek across an open field from the school/ When the bball team traversed the field covered in snow to practice everyday they picked up the name Polar Bears. I don't know if there is any truth to this or not....

 

I imagine the Camels is simply an illiteration of Campbell County.
