Boone County at Covington Catholic Predictions/Updates

The Colonels and the Rebels are both toting .500 records right now. The Colonels have wins over Belfry, Dixie and their latest 4OT win over Cooper. The Rebels have beaten Scott, Lloyd and Walton-Verona, and their most recent game was a 34-7 loss to district opponent Conner.

Boone County's offense is notably more confident in the air. Junior quarterback RJ West already has surpassed his season total for passing by almost 150 yards, and the offense as a whole is only about 150 yards short of their 2020 season total for yards gained. The Rebels' run game averages just shy of 4-1/2 yards per carry, with junior running back Jeremiah Williams leading the running attack for Boone, averaging a little over 5 yards per carry this season.

Cov Cath's offense looked a little different last week with sophomore QB Evan Pitzer stepping in for most of the Colonels' game against Cooper. Although the team only produced 69 yards passing against Cooper, Pitzer's increased confidence in the pocket was visible from the first half to the second, and Cov Cath's ability to look downfield for passing opportunities was made much more evident. Senior athlete Preston Agee made his on-field dominance as evident as ever.

Will Boone County have a better showing against the Colonels than they have since 5A District 5 realigned in 2019, or will the Colonels continue with to dominate the Rebels?

Agreed. This is probably the start of three straight running clock losses coming for Boone. Boone’s non district schedule may help produce an extra win or two, but it doesn’t really get them ready for the games that matter in district.
