Mustang
Mustangs improve to 6-0 heading into district seeding play next week, with a commanding 41-7 win over Ludlow Friday night at home. Ludlow led this series 9-3 and were on a 4-0 run, coming off of a 54-33 win over the Mustangs a year ago at Rigney Stadium in Ludlow. In that game Braxton Newborn ran for 220 yards and five touchdowns. Not so Friday night in Alexandria, where the Mustangs led 34-0 when the Panthers put together a drive that ended in the end zone on a pass from O'Brien to Nick Tackett. The Mustangs promptly answered and went on to wen 41-7. BubbyKY
BB - 4:50 - 2ndQ - 49 yard touchdown pass from Leicht to Govan - PAT No Good - 14-0 Congrats Mustangs. Glad to see them start to throw the ball. Govan has great hands and with his height, he creates a lot of mismatches.

Mustang
My good friend Terry Boehmker at the Northern Kentucky Tribune reports that it was #2 Jaxson Rice and not #12 Nick Tackett who caught Ludlow's touchdown pass. I stand corrected and appreciate the update. "Senior running back Jed Martin rushed for 138 yards on 14 carries and scored twice for the Mustangs. Senior quarterback Jacob Leicht had 119 yards rushing and 75 passing. He scored on a 1-yard run and threw a 49-yard TD pass to David Govan. Ludlow (1-5) scored its only touchdown in the third quarter when junior Jaxson Rice caught a 10-yard pass from senior Brogan O’Brien."

Very good season so far by Brossart. What is their roster like? Is it senior heavy? To where this is the year they need to try to make some noise? Or is there a lot of younger guys playing, to where this may be a start of a nice two to three year run for them?
gbballfan21
How come Brossart and NCC don’t play? I would think, with the great, new facilities and NCC enrollment/talent being down, this is a game Brossart would pursue to try and take over as the parochial school in that area of NKY. Any thoughts?

Roster presently stands at 39 at 100%. With the graduation of Trevor Schadler, Devon McCormick and a total of seven quality seniors, many of us thought we might take a step back this season, so this has been a monumental pleasant surprise for us. While it is the end of the Jacob Leicht, Trevor Schadler, Jed Martin and David Govan offensive era, the cupboard is certainly not bare. Present Junior Mason Meyer and Freshman Keegan Gulley will vie for the 2022 quarterback position Evan Orth will be a stabilizing force on both sides of the ball. We will take a big hit on defense, losing Leicht, Martin, Austin Schadler, Daniel Williamson, Govan, Adam Bezold, Alex and Brad Reis and Thomas Sayers, as well as our place-kicker Andrew Schwartz. It will be hard to replace these guys, but some underclassmen have been pressed into duty due to injury and have performed admirably, boding well for our future.

In re-reading this post, Thankfully Austin Schadler is a junior, but I failed to mention that we lose Senior Kaleb Lukes, who is one of our top defensive players. I believe they have 8-10 players in each class. Their junior high team is playing very well. The future is bright in A town. As for playing NCC, in the past this would be and was a mismatch. As Brossart grows their program the gap narrows. It's a game many would like to see and I'm sure at some point it will get scheduled.

Keep in mind when this game stopped being played it was as lopsided of a game you could have doing neither team any good. This is not a Brossart knock as it was where the program was at that point. Coach Wiggins has done a phenomenal job growing the program. Keep in mind NCC for all non district games with the exception of Newport and Holy Cross play a large school schedule. When the time is right I am sure both schools will want to schedule this game again.
