Phil Mickelson Wins the PGA Championship

Featured Replies

At 50 years and  about 11 months of age Phil Mickelson becomes the oldest golfer in 456 majors to win a major. What a great story enjoyed watching it.

Was rooting for the guy, but man did he make it hard. Kept thinking about the 2006 US Open finish.

"Old age and treachery always overcomes youth and exuberance.  "

But I doubt any treachery was involved.

He had a little bit of John Rambo look with the mirrors on and did not smile much during the rounds.  But he looked very Phil-like after it was done.   Age is just a number.

I had a spot open up on my team in my golf outing this Friday.  I think I will give Phil a call.  At our ages, maybe the organizers will let us hit from the yellow tees.

Saw the highlights. Phil was crushing it off the tee. They said he has worked hard on his body over the past year.

Phil is now the oldest to win a major. He also is the last person to win a PGA event as an amateur - won a tournament at age 17.

I believe he was 20 at the time. But still pretty cool.

Thanks for the correction. Google confirms you are right and the TV commentator who said 17 was wrong.
