There is no reason for them to leave. They, like O.J. and Billy a few years back, are getting the down state publicity and have made their reputations through AAU competition. Mayo and Walker would have fared as well if they had stayed at Rose Hill as they have by relocating. Euton and Jackson will not lack attention.

 

Where would they be better served? Although they have been "courted" by some of our locals, none of these suitors have a superior supporting cast to what Rose Hill will have in the next few years. Any local transfer would be both suspicious and a step down.

 

As for the OHAs of the world, if these boys continue to improve, they won't need such a school any more than Mayo needed one.

What sour grapes? :confused: I just thought it was funny that insinuations of recruiting would come from a backer of the area school that has been, correctly or not, associated with allegations of recruiting more so than other schools in the region.

I think your rebuttal of basketballmomcat's post actually serves to confirm the truth of her statement. If I'm not mistaken, your favorites have three former Rose Hillers in their starting lineup. Is anyone from Rose Hill complaining? Not at all. We know how it all works and, in fact, most of us are fans of Russell since so many of our kids are wearing the maroon uniform. Come to think of it, we have some wearing maroon uniforms with a different name on the jersey as well as red and black, orange and black, and blue and red. As I said, we know how it all works and so should you. No complaints from Friendship Road.

The rebuttal comes from the fact that I never complained. I am well aware of which kids played for which schools and when.

 

I just thought it came across as hypocritical and elitest. "Our kids". Most of the kids you are speaking of attended other schools before Rose Hill. If there parents felt that would be the best situation for them then I am sure they would still be there. Some are just returning to the school districts in which they live. Some are not. Rose Hill is a private school and if you anyone wants to pay to go there thats fine. Like you said. We all know how it works.

 

I have no complaint with the kids playing at Rose Hill. God bless them and I wish them the best of luck on the rest of the season. But you may want to accord some of the "suspicious" "step down" locals the same respect that you would want for your Royals.

Fball, I think Scooter nailed the situation. There are a lot more former Rose Hill kids starting for other 16th Region schools then there are kids playing for Rose Hill from other schools. Check the starters at Russell, Ashland, Fairview, and Raceland.

 

I don't think the Rose Hill kids (Euton and Jackson) are going anywhere. They are playing there their Freshman year, which is when OJ and the "gang" all transferred, unless you count Billy Walker who was either an 8th grader or Freshman. Euton's parents are heavily involved in Rose Hill and I think you will see him graduate from Rose Hill and make the 16th Region proud.

Just to make sure we are clear on this. I have know problem with the kids that are now at Rose Hill. I have know problem with the kids that once attended Rose Hill and then decided to attend public school for whatever reasons. I am sure the parents of these stundents all have their reasons.

 

I think we all know who played where and when. And like I said some are now going to school in the public school district in which they live. No they do not belong to Rose hill and many only attended the school for a short time. Reffering to them as "our kids" was a bit much.

 

My only point was the smug attitude taken in post 16. Scooter likes to stir things up and apparently my comments in response are not appreciated by some.

 

Again, I have no complaint with Rose Hill School or who is on their basketball roster. I wish them the best of luck this year and in the future.

Russell stays at 1 and the next 4 are up for grabs. Rose Hill has had the most impresive wins of the young season to date and deserve to be #2.

I find it amusing after some teams play a game the very next day or the same night everyone wants poll to be changed. It will come out on Sunday after examining each team's body of work during the week.

I think when you set the poll up, that something has to happen to actually change the poll. If the teams continue to win, then they hold their spot. Rose Hill has achieved some big wins this past week - no doubt, but until they beat Russell, Rowan, or Elliott or until one of those three teams lose and Rose Hill wins, the top 4 stay the same. I will agree with everyone on here that there is a top 5 that has a chance to probably win the region, a next 5 that has a chance to improve and get into the top 5 and then probably 6 teams that are just playing for fun. Perhaps the rankings should go like this:

 

1) Russell, Rose Hill, Elliott, Rowan, Greenup, Boyd

 

2) East, West, Ashland, Raceland, Fairview

 

3) Menifee, Fleming, Morgan, Bath, Lewis

Struggled for three quarters with Lewis.

Lost to average West team. I know without Daniel.

Greenup, Hill, and Elliott have better wins than Rowan at this point.
