Hoover?

Featured Replies

Has any one heard of any team around kentucky that has scheduled Hoover (A.L.) to play next season? There is rumour of Lafayette playing them in September but I don't know how concrete that is yet.

By the way I think that its a great idea. :thumb:

I really hope that isn't true for Lafayette's sake.

I couldn't see Hoover spending so much money to travel to KY to play Lafayette. I also don't see Lafayette having the funding to travel to Birmingham either.

The only teams in KY that should be on the field with Hoover are a Trinity, Male, Cov Cath type team. That isn't disrespecting any other teams, but with so much $$ being involved, I would think a more high profile opponent would be considered for Hoover.

Anyone, Anybody,Anywhere.....Go Lafayette

Lexington Catholic needs a game. Work something out with them.

Lafayette is crazy if they think they can play with these guys. Hoover beats 11 teams a year better than Lafayette.

Win win situation for Lafayette, if they play.

Get blown out... they were supposed to. Come back to KY with some experience against a great team.

Compete with or win.... kudos. Puts them on the map, and gives them an incredible amount of confidence.

From my understanding Hoover will pay part of the travel expenses for whatever team travels there to play them out of state. Anyone else hear this.

Maybe so, but all I was trying to point out is if Hoover is going to go through all the trouble to schedule a team from KY, I doubt it would be Lafayette. There would be a lot of funding involved and I think they would want a much more high profile opponent. They could play about 50 or more teams around Alabama that are better on paper than Lafayette.

Lafayette gets stomped by Woodford in the play offs and schedules Hoover, now that is crazy. Is lafayette supposed to be loaded next year?

That's why they don't play them on paper. If Lafayette gets the chance, as someone else says, they can't lose. They aren't supposed to win, so losing the game isn't a problem. And besides, how many kids at that school (or any KHSAA school) get a chance to see a team like that, a facility like that, an ESPN game like that? I wouldn't blame their school if they jumped all over it. It would easily be worth any fundraising headache.

I doubt that Santa Clara or Savannah State are very optimistic about their next basketball games either. But they will show up and play.

Please don't kid yourself here. Lafayette has made some strides the past couple years, but can't even get out of the 1st round of the playoffs. I'm sure ESPN or Fox Sports is dying to show a game where Hoover (or any other top 10 national team) is going to win by 50+ points.

If we want to see KY High School programs on TV then I suggest ESPN send someone with a camera down to Papa Johns Stadium to see the annual Trinity vs. St. X game. That would be great exposure for football in the state if that game was aired.

I had heard Hoover had scheduled Maryville,Tn for next year...Can anyone confirm this? I know Maryville is a Tn powerhouse, who's won the 4A state championship the past 3-4 years and if I'm not mistaken, hasn't lost a game in like 3 years...

I'd like to get RollRedRoll's take on Maryville. I've heard that they are a paper tiger. They don't have to play the big boys in 5A (Riverdale, etc.) and they won't play the private schools. If they are playing Hoover at Hoover I guess we will find out what they are made of.

Lafayette has steadily improved over the last six years. From what I have heard, they are playing Trinity and if they are also playing Hoover I would have to assume that Coach Harmon is attempting to take the next step with his program. I say go for it Lafayette and good luck. I would like to know if T, X, or Male have explored the possibility of playing a top 10 team that is not from Ohio or Tennessee.

^ I don't know if we have, but I know we will be in the future.
