A Western Conference official scouted Morris against the Tar Heels and couldn't believe his eyes. This was Randolph Morris? He watched Morris deliver a 10-for-11 shooting performance against Carolina's lottery-pick frontline of Tyler Hansbrough and Brandan Wright and discovered a transformed player.

 

"He outplayed both of them," the official said. "He was the best player on the floor. Listen, I couldn't stand this kid for two years. He was out of shape. He didn't seem like he cared at all. But from what I've seen out there, most teams can't get a guy like Morris in this draft. You just can't find quality bigs out there.

If anyone is going to draft Morris based on what he did against UNC they are crazy. Sure he had a great game, but it was just one game that has been mixed in with so many medicore games. He is still lazy, and he still doesn't rebound nearly as much as someone his size should.

 

GT, you, yourself enjoyed pointing out how he was outplayed by DJ White just seven days latter. I would think it would be foolish for any NBA team to waste a dime on him until he shows the willingness to put forth the type of effort that he displayed against UNC game in and game out. IMO he is not always playing to his potential due to a lack of effort.

Yea, I know bad choice of words, guess I'm just not used to verbally describing the process in which a college athlete becomes a pro athlete without using the word "draft", its almost second nature.

I'm not saying it won't happen, the NBA has left me scratching my head before (Reynaldo Balkman) and I'm sure it won't be the last time. I just think in this case it would be stupid. IMO Morris will never have much impact on the league. If he had the drive to succed at the next level, he would already be there and wouldn't have already been passed over twice by every team.

1. People say a NBA GM wouldn't make the offer if he thought he was getting a 1st round player and doing so to keep others from doing the same.

I agree. An NBA GM couldn't care less about UK's situation. Yeah, they may catch some flack over it but so what. And I think Morris has already proven he is more interested in playing in the NBA then for UK. He is only at UK because he had no other option.

I'm not disputing that. I'm saying NBA GM's don't seem to care as long as you are 6'10" and have proven you can score on the block. Like I said, it's not a move I'd make. But I'm positive that there are more than a few idiot GM's that make you scratch your head on a regular basis...

UK is the top collegiate basketball program in the country...Why would he want to leave???
