Brossart 65 Campbell Co. 40

Willie-1 regional title at Brossart.

Sullivan-1 regional title at CC.

Reitz and Code have zero and Brossart is the 3rd best team in the region and I don't think they match up well with 1 or 2.

That is because you are a headfast cov cath supporter!!! Wouldnt expect you to say anything else. Come 2007 when your favorite Colonels play Brossart at your own house, you might change your tune. Cant wait!!! Will have a couple baseball colonels also in the mix , should be a whale of a game. :fight:

I do not want to put words in OT's mouth however I think he was speaking of the two predecessors at CCHS (AD and Coach), not Willie.

He's a PC fan and Campbell alum... I'm here for ya again Horshack.;)

Coach Reitz is an old pro and Campbell County should consider themselves fortunate to have him.

A coaching merry-go-round does not bring success, it only adds to the confusion. Stability, fundamentals, hard-work, and talented athletes are the recipe for success!

Kudos from this corner also to the often much-maligned Kenny Walker. I saw a similar shooting performance from him back in last year's Bluegrass-Buckeye when the Camels were being thumped by Elder at NKU. Walker was a bright spot in that game popping out and hitting the perimeter jumpers, and put on a repeat performance Saturday night in the "cross-town."

What was impressive was that he was able to "stand up and deliver" against his old school chums, who in the past he would have been totally intimidated by. I think that this shows a great deal of mental maturity from the big senior, who just now seems to be coming into his own.

To most of us, the Camels are not our hated enemies - they are our rivals and our opponents. Coach Willie Schlarman used to have a philosophy that if players chose not to come play for us that they would pay the price of being beaten by us. This has proven true in the BB-CC rivalry now for the past five consecutive years, and seven of the last ten years.

It doesn't mean that we don't like to see "one of our own" succeed - we just prefer that it happen against others than our Mustangs. ;)

I have to agree about what you said about Kenny Walker. The kid has jumped leaps and bounds of what he was at St Marys, playing with this present bunch of Mustangs. Kenny has matured into a pretty fine basketball player and more importantly , a great young man. Kenny was always a good kid, just didnt like being drilled in practice. But that is behind him by years now and was impressed by his game agaisnt the Mustangs sat night.

Talk about a tall lineup if Kenny had stay with brossart, can you imagine: Cooper6,5..Mutsch 6,5, Kenny 6,9 and Niemeyer 6,5????

Anyway i wish Kenny and his family the best, Kenny has two great parents and its no wonder he turned out as good as he has. He probably has some colleges looking also, anyone with info on that? I was really surprised by his outside shot, it looked pretty good. I always new he would do allright inside if he ever picked up some weight. Good luck to Kenny Walker the rest of the season. :thumb:

Coach Reitz has won more regional titles than both of those gentlemen combined.

I would only root for Cov Cath if they were playing a scrimmage game.

But what has he done for you lately? Coaching at CC is not an easy task.

Which is also up for debate. Granted I think Reitz is a GREAT coach and I really like him. I don't like the low blows to former administration and coaching. I was around them and I was not a player, but I worked for the old AD on several occasions and I worked in the intramural program for the basketball coach. I saw the coach work seven days a week 4 months out of the year. Normally working 10-12 hour days during the week and 5 or 6 hours both days on the weekend. People don't understand the sacrifices he made and the work he put in to building a program.

Well, at least that is one side of the story. Those weekend leagues and teams probably never made any money though.

He'd pay us 12-15 dollars a game to ref and there would be 3 of us (one on the clock). It wasn't about making money or they would have taken money up at the gate (which they did not it was collected in a bucket). The kids in the league only paid about 20 dollars a piece and some of that went to shirts. WE NEVER had enough money in the bucket to pay the officials. I ran a gym and we'd make 60 dollars a piece for 5 games (180 dollars total). There would only be about 60-80 dollars in the bucket. Save your old, broke, unjustified accusations for someone who wasn't involved.....

Blind faith is a strong shield and helps keep from looking at facts. That is OK. You are not the only one but it does explain the quotes you have made regarding recent Campbell coaches. As for unjustified I hate to say you are the one that is not aware of all the details. It is a matter of public record, that is, if you wish to look.

Find one negative thing I've EVER said about a current coach at CCHS. Coach Styer was my football coach and I've known him since I was a baby. He was my uncle's best friend in high school and was always at my Grandma's when I was a kid. I don't know Reitz as well but I just said he is a GREAT coach and a really nice guy. For some reason you find it in your heart to lowball the same people time and time again and it's a joke. I am aware of the details.

But what has he done for you lately? Coaching at CC is not an easy task.

Will call this a compliment vs. a negative?!

As to the game, Brossart lived up to its expectation and Campbell shows it still needs to grow. Hopefully there is a rematch which may well mean an Alexandria district final. Brossart will continue to be the favorite through the rest of the year but, if there is a rematch the game should be closer due to the growth of the young Camels.

As Reitz said in the paper, 12 possession with 6 turnovers and no made shots is something you cannot do against a control and power tempo team such as the Mustangs.

The two that really impressed me for Campbell is Parks and his continued development but how come no one on hear talks about Griffin. Didn;t anyone notice the vertical leap of the kid? He is probably 5-8 or 5-9 but jumps and makes himself much taller and talk about quick!

I think the Eagles of Scott HS will have something to say about this.
