Highlands 72 Dixie Heights 58 (9th Region Quarterfinals)

Recommended Posts

Highlands was firmly in control the whole game. Vinson was constantly on the attack on offense, their defense looked solid with a soft full court press most of the game.

Dixie has nothing to hang their heads about. They made them earn the win by pulling within 8 in the 2nd half. Great season Colonels!

Highlands moves on to play Conner.

Great season colonels? They were 10-21.

They're really a better team than their record would suggest. Saw them once this season going in thinking nothing of them, but went away impressed by their team play, discipline and talent. Didn't think that they really had a chance to sneak up on any of the top dogs, but still found that they were nothing to sneeze at. They seemed to efficiently use the goods that they have, and played well as a focused well coached unit.

Gotta tip the cap to Coach Stainforth for the job he did this season continually improving his club from week to week. Their issue really was lack of a bench. The top talent, however, was very impressive - Snelling, Geraci, Summe all very solid players.

I also agree with the two comments above. Dixie has some promising young talent and I thought they got better each week. Can’t wait to See this Geraci kid Next two years. Played great Saturday night, doing all the “little things” to show high basketball IQ. Add to that his obvious skill / talent, put him on your watch list next two years.

On another note, Highlands was once again very impressive. Dixie went toe to toe, just didn’t have the horsepower. But effort was never in question.

Highlands needs to do a better job defending lane penetration. Conner loves to drive to the rim and Beechwood couldn’t stop them. Dixie was doing it as well and it wasn’t always defended. Difference with Conner is they like to kick out for the 3. Was impressed with Dixie’s heart and their young talent. Cody came up big on both ends of the court for Highlands. They will need the same from him tonight.
