February 18, 20206 yr With the offseason over, let's transition Reds talk here. All 61 players in camp passed physicals yesterday so I guess we're off to a good start!
February 18, 20206 yr The Akiyama coverage is going to be crazy. Kinda cool to have that kind of "buzz" associated with the Reds.

February 18, 20206 yr What do we think his ceiling and floor will be for this season? Hard for me to put numbers on potential highs/lows. But, if he can hit .285 with an OBP of .350 (or better), you'd have to think he's going to be able to score a 100 runs, with the lineup he's going to have behind him, right? The other big factor that's going to play a part in his numbers, is what Bell does as far as potential platoons/substitutions. Does he start subbing in the 6th or 7th inning, or wait until later?
February 18, 20206 yr What do we think his ceiling and floor will be for this season? I think as far as avg and obp most of the projections I’ve seen will be pretty close. Those things translate well usually for first year players in his situation. That’d put him in the .270-.275 range with a .340 or so OBP. I personally think he’ll hit with a little more power than projected. Between being in GABP 81 games a year, and the Reds approach in hitting hitting coaches I think he hits 20-25 dingers. Can’t gripe about that in the lead off spot. Of course, all of this is assuming Bell starts him more often than not. If he players a L/R platoon with Akiyama/Senzel then who knows.

February 19, 20206 yr Anybody hurt yet? Seems like Reds have a lot of injuries. Just Suarez, I think.
February 19, 20206 yr Just Suarez, I think. He seems to be right on schedule (or even a little ahead). They believe he will be ready for opening day. Really hoping the Reds come out of the gate hot and put some butts in the seats!
February 19, 20206 yr Really hoping the Reds come out of the gate hot and put some butts in the seats! Heck yeah, me too. They can't come out much colder than they have the past couple of seasons. Outside of the opening series with the Cardinals, I'm not sure the teams that are coming to GABP through most of April and May will bring a lot of opposing fans. April might be tough with 12 games against teams projected to win their divisions (6 vs Cardinals, 3 vs Yankees, and 3 vs Braves). Hopefully they can go .500 in April.

Just play .500 against those teams and not .200 and we will be just fine. We can not get blown away in April and Votto needs to hit .270 instead of .180 in April.
February 23, 20206 yr I think I saw that Jesse Winker had to leave the game today when he took a pitch off his wrist during his first at-bat.
February 27, 20206 yr I think I saw that Jesse Winker had to leave the game today when he took a pitch off his wrist during his first at-bat. X-rays were taken on his wrist and it is nothing major, just a bone bruise, should be back in a week or so.
