My point is not what happened last year. The same team doesn't win the region every year, and that's what is great about high school sports. With that said, CCH has been one of the top teams in the region for as long as I can remember.

 

Ironically, Ryle's program is being built (and run) in a manner that is almost identical to Covington Catholic's.

 

You will never hear me say one thing critical of Coach Krumps, I think he is without a doubt the most successful coach in Northern Kentucky and a teriffic person. If your going to claim to be THE elete team...people DO expect you to win every year, and as you stated, that just doesn't happen. I was trying to be logical. How does CCH go from the 5th best record in Northern Kentucky, loose a few pitchers and your big sticks and expect to be THE elete team next year?

Remember, you have a very tough Holy Cross team returning a lot of starters as well as Beechwood, who may have a down year with all their losses, but they do return two very good pitchers in your region. I wish you the best of luck, just looking at the cold hard facts.

beechwood returns two quality pitchers in elliott and bankemper, if bankemper's leg recovers 100%. on that note, anyone close to tommy know how his rehab is coming along?

I picked them to finish 3rd. Main problem will be pitching, only returning Shanks, Ryan, I think Kuebbing pitches and their soccer goalie, forget his name.

CCH lost about 9 seniors from last year's squad. That's a lot for many programs, but at CCH that's about average.

 

At the end of the year, didn't CCH have 3 freshman starting? I know Maile was behind the dish (and hitting in the middle of the order) & I think there was a frosh starting at 3rd (Isler, maybe?). And I think the LF was a freshman as well...

 

There is plenty of talent in Park Hills, although a lot of it may be young & unproven.

 

And, while I'm not the voice for everyone, I do know that I personally expect CCH to be in the hunt for the region (and ultimately state) every year. If you don't expect to win, why bother playing?

The last 15 years of baseball in NKY......CCH has 8 regional titles, the rest of the region has combined for 7.

Maile started at C. Isler was a DH and 1B occasionally (but his main strength is at pitching). Popham (senior) is 3B. LF belonged to Matthew Reis, who is also a senior.

No one is lock to win....and, anything said at this point is 100% unproven speculation. But, we can say that the Colonels have every expectation of being the team to beat...now. You may see 8 sophomores start on this squad at some point, and they will be very competitve. There is no drop off of talent in the immediate future. Bles and Pop and the rest of the upperclassmen are going to enjoy their new young friends. I just hope Isler's arm is coming around as reported. Keep an eye on names like Nutini, Holocher, VanSant, Shover, Darner, Sanoila, Maile, Hartmann, Isler, Niehaus, to name a few newcomers.

I am sure the young CCH team will have a fine season but...no drop off in tallent is a bit of an overstatement.
