I know first hand about EKU's coaches and they are professional liars to high school athletes. They have lied to recruits and i know for a fact that they promised to pay student managers and then never forked out the dough. It is really crappy what grown men do to 20 year olds. I know all of their coaches and i warn against anyone i know who would ever play for that bunch. Ammons is too good of a player and from what i heard about the kid, too good of a person for EKU. Best of luck wherever he goes

I would say that G-town hasn't really offered anyone yet. They don't really get out recruiting until now. As for the other schools in the state, they do some questionable things in the recruiting process. I think that WKU is confused about what type of player they should recruit. Like there is a difference now they are going D1. I would think they would still recruit the best available athletes. Hadn't heard all this negative stuff about EKU until now, should people really be worried if they are getting recruited by EKU.

I would be.... When you have the recruiting cordinator telling a kid and his dad that we are going to offer. This goes on for 8 months then comes in and says Coach Hope doesn't think he is a fit. Makes you think they have issues. I never have a problem with a school not wanting offer kids. I have the problem of coaches telling kids they are going to offer them sell the kid on that school then come back and say you dont fit our program. Why even tell a kid you going to offer him. Just tell him you are evaluating him. Like I said EKU has burned some bridges.

He doesnt have the arm strength for UK but it is a shame that EKU isnt going after him. EKU's staff has made it clear that they want FL players that Florida, Florida State, Miami, South Florida, etc. and even Jacksonville State in their own conference dont want. Ammons would be an excellent addition for any Div-1AA teams in state

They are a Div 1-AA (DI) school in Jacksonville, FLORIDA! Have been beating up on OVC teams for a couple years now.

What bothers me is that alot of these coaches are so convinced they KNOW talent that they consistently make the same mistakes over and over. How many times do they overlook a kid because they DO NOT fit a mold by their height or weight or lack of speed/quickness. They are wrong as much as they are right but will not change their thought processes.

The staff at WKU seems to go after local names who do not go to big schools and also grab Junior College talent. Short lived successes in the past, hence the lack of big wins since their National Championship year. The staff at EKU seems to think that 3rd - 4th level talent in Florida is STILL superior to talent in state. I do think they could do a much better job of keeping some in state players, but seemed to have burned a lot of bridges. I will say that U of L has gotten a little more Louisville/Kentucky friendly in recent years and Kentucky has done quite well in recent years in keeping the kids IN STATE.

I also agree that there a re a lot of local players who could help a lot of these programs (Murray as well).

The smaller schools usually wait until the bigger schools "stake their claims" to go after some of the overlooked talent. Usually finding some "diamonds in the rough."

Good Luck to Ammons on a prosperous future in college. Get the education but most of all enjoy your college experience wherever it may be!

NO JSU is in Alabama. You're thinking of University of Jacksonville. They are in the Pioneer league with Morehead.

Personally, if I were from Frankfort (Franklin County) and I had the opportunity to get a paid education from Georgetown I would sign right away. Unless he is planning on going to the pros, education first and football second. You will use the education for the rest of your life.

 

First of all, once he graduates from a school like Georgetown, he is set for life. He will always find a job and he will be well prepared for his future. I can't necessarily say that about some of the State Universities.

 

Secondly, the kid can play quarterback close to home and have a following for all 4 years. Georgetown loves to have a qb that can run and throw on the run and believe me, this kid can do it.
