Congrats to Belfry on doing it again.

A few interesting stats in the wake of this:

- Since 2003 the Belfry run continues. 2019 marks their 14th trip to the Semi-Finals, 11th trip to the Finals, and 7th Title. Pretty impressive for a 17-year span of time!

 

- In those 7 State Championships, Belfry has thrown for a grand total of 14 passing yards. This marks the 5th title Belfry has won without completing a pass!

 

- In an age where the Public vs. Private debate rages on, Belfry has been one public school who has held up well. With the win over DeSales Belfry improves to 17-3 All-Time against Private Schools.

 

- For those that consider Bell County a Southern Kentucky school, the win makes Belfry 60-13 All-Time against schools from the Southern Kentucky region. It is worth noting that outside of Bell County, that record would be 56-8.

 

- One of my favorite stats is looking at the most recent Belfry run of dominance since 2013. Not only has Belfry won 5 Titles in a 7-year run, but they have done it playing an uncanny amount of good teams. Since 2013 Belfry has faced 15 teams that have ended their season playing for a State Title with a record of 12-3 in those games. Belfry is 9-1 against teams who finished as State Runner-Ups... they are also 3-2 against teams who went on to win their respective State Championships (both of those losses came this year, FWIW).
