October 28, 20196 yr I see it like this... OSU is top tier by themselves. Great defense and balanced offense. Bama and LSU are tier 2, great offensive potential but neither defense is as dynamic as in years past. Clemson is hard to put a finger on. Defense has played great, but not really tested by a two dimensional offense. Their offense can run and pass, but right now lacks consistency. Tier 3 Oklahoma...defense is meh, offense runs great to set up the pass along with the best leader in college football at QB. Penn State, nothing flashy just solid football. Could get blown out by a dynamic offense and probably will. Tier 4 Auburn, Florida, Oregon and UGA are a tier lower. I'd be shocked if everything fell right and any of them made the playoffs. This holds a lot of water because you and Gametime certainly aren’t OSU fans lol. You’re just being objective. I still think OSU is far from a complete product, I’m trying to keep a level head.
October 28, 20196 yr But LSU and Bama are doing what OSU is doing against better competition. Seems a little homer to just assume Big 10 is just plain better than SEC. You have to give the benefit of the doubt that Bama and LSU are on the top Teir too, I mean come on. This is similar to someone telling me that Boyle Co is way better than Trinity and Male. Until they play it out I’ll agree to about the same but I’m leaning towards the 6A powers that play blockbuster opponents. Combined records for the likely top four teams' opponent played: Ohio State: 36-26 LSU: 31-21 + an FCS team Clemson: 30-32 Alabama: 24-39 LSU is the only team who’s really played someone.

You haven’t been watching the games or hell even looking at box scores if you think Bama and LSU are playing at the same level as OSU right now. You can think LSU and Bama are better, but to say they are playing at the same level as OSU on both sides of the ball is just ignoring facts because they’re not. Also Bama hasn’t played anyone as good as Wisconsin or UC so yet again you’re just flat out ignoring facts that aren’t difficult to look up.
October 28, 20196 yr I dislike aOSU with the fire of a thousand suns. Always have, always will. That doesn't change the fact I have yet to see a weakness in their performance this season. And they have the best and most disruptive player in the sport. I throw up a little every time I say something nice about them, but I see what I see.

October 28, 20196 yr I’m not sure why some people choose to ignore pretty easy to find facts. I’ve got more... Current SP+ SOS rankings: 37. Ohio State 46. LSU 81. Bama 87. Clemson
October 28, 20196 yr I’m not sure why some people choose to ignore pretty easy to find facts. Yes but other facts are UC and Wisconsin
October 28, 20196 yr Not sure you know what fact means. You are a great debater. Telling someone they don’t know what facts are is really sophisticated. Check out college football rankings on espn. If it is so apparent that OSU is far and away number one then why aren’t they ranked number one by the experts? SEC plays each other so that is why their records look worse than Mac teams. OSU will get to the playoff. We will all see if they are 14 points better than LSU and Bama then.

Opinions and facts aren’t the same thing. I’m not sure what the disconnect is between you and I in this conversation. It’s not really a debate when literally the fundamental aspect of a debate is the presentation of facts to present an opinion. But you are stating your opinion and calling it a fact. Also are we really going to refer to the media as experts now? You know the media conducts the AP Poll right? You also know that the coaches poll is just in name only. You honestly believe Saban or any other big name coach is filling that out every Sunday? Of course not. It’s some random person on the football staff who between travel and game preparation could in no way become an expert on all 130 FBS programs by Sunday morning. To show you how meaningless the AP Poll is, wait until the first playoff rankings come out and the next week if none of the top 4 lose the AP Top 4 will match exactly with the playoff rankings. These people aren’t experts and they never have been experts. Most of them are no different than you and me except for the fact that they cover their local team. For example, John Clay of the Herald Leader has an AP vote. How much Ohio State football do you think he’s watching? His job is to cover and write about UK football. He can’t be an expert on all these teams because if he was it would be taking time away from his position of covering UK. I’m really not trying to debate you. I’m simply presenting facts and letting you form your own opinion. But to carry an opinion without knowing all the facts is actually quite representative of the culture in 2019.

I guess it is an opinion that the SEC is better than Wisconsin and UC. You got me there. People actually know more facts in 2019 than any other year, and people pick facts that make their opinions look good. Like comparing opponents records seems impressive but in reality you are comparing MAC and Big 10 wins versus SEC wins. OSU is really really good I agree they are a top 3 team. Maybe they are way better than everyone. If Wisconsin hadn’t lost to garbage team I’d believe it more.

My point was simply tell me why. You say we’re comparing MAC and Big 10 wins but the Big 10 has nine conference games as opposed to eight in the SEC. So even if it were true that SEC is just that much better than the Big 10 (which I don’t believe it is), you’re still comparing 1 less conference game. The SEC still schedules FCS Opponents. All of them do. That’s not prevalent in the Big 10 and especially not with the top teams in the conference. There’s no easy way to compare conferences. Yeah Wisconsin lost to Illinois and I’m not going to act like they’re good because they’re not. But that is a decently talented team that’s going to make a bowl game this year. Wisconsin didn’t lose to Rutgers.

And Michigan is talented but just poops the bed too much. My problem is the past 4 years I think OSU is going to make a run and they do a Iowa. This team has me taking the bate again. I think they are too good to have an Iowa. But I think the OSU playoff games will be barn burners flip a coin type of deal.

What you described sounds eerily similar to the SEC for about the past 8 years as well. Bama carries the conference. LSU has always been one dimensional. Georgia is pretty good but never gets over the hump. Florida is talented but just poops the bed too much and hasn’t been able to find a QB.
October 29, 20196 yr Imo it is simple. Based on who has looked the best so far it is OSU, based on who has proven it the best so far against the best competition it is LSU. Which right now LSU, and OSU are the two best teams in the country and they have proven it in their own ways. So it really doesn't matter which order someone decides to put them in at this moment, you really can't go wrong with either. The team to watch out for which is crazy to say because they are the defending champions is Clemson. They haven't looked like the best team so far at all, but they are the defending champs and most likely will be undefeated and in the playoff. They are a team that I am not sure any of us truly know how good they are yet, because they really haven't had to show it and probably not even motivated to show it. Since they are a team that are use to and just expect to be in the playoffs now. So they could be a team once the bright lights of the playoffs come on, just end up looking completely different and dominate unlike they have looked so far.
