Raceland travels to Putnum Stadium on Friday night. Can Raceland pull the upset or will Ashland be too much?

Raceland seems to have stabilized since Week 2, and Conner Hughes performed at a high level last week, coming off a shoulder issue. But Ashland is a huge step up from a down Portsmouth West team, plus the Tomcats are coming in well rested following their off week. There will be a lot of speed on the field for both teams Friday night at Putnam, but I think Ashland's depth and line play on both sides of the ball will be the difference. I'm taking the Cats by 3-4 scores.

This will be my first chance to see Ashland this season so what I know about them is only what I've heard and read. I do know a few of the seniors and their parents though and the Wheelersburg loss really seemed to put fire in their eyes. Without that attitude they would have gotten rolled by a much better (than Wheelersburg) Ironton team.

I did have the opportunity to see Raceland vs. Greenup County and from what I saw in that game along with the injuries to the young Rams I'd take Ashland by 3 scores.

Raceland, once again will be making the short drive to Ashland's Putnam Stadium to play a very good Tomcats team. This series is now moved to a home / home format. Ashland will be coming to Ram Stadium in 2020.

Back to this game …. As another said, there will be plenty of speed in this one. Both Raceland and Ashland have kids that can flat out run / break a big play. Should they get a step or two on their defender then it's more than likely six points.

Raceland's defense has shown improvement from the first couple of weeks. The Tomcats are well on their way to a good season, one that imo they can make a deep playoff run. Raceland, after losing some key seniors from the 2018 team are coming around and playing better. This one will be a tough game and with Ashland at home , they just may upset the Rams,. ……. Seriously , I would love to see Raceland go in there and pull out a W, but I agree with @JDEaston in that the Tomcats should win this one by a sound margin.

Where’s all the Raceland peeps at?

We pulled into Ashland in April to play a little Spring Training baseball against the Tomcats. Half their baseball roster played football, and they were huge, muscular, and athletic. I think they went deep like 6 times. I haven't watched them or seem them on film, but that sure as heck pass the getting-off-the-bus look test.

:idunno:, I've been wondering the same thing Bac. Should you see or talk to any of them, tell em' that they have extra "suicides, pukers" to run. :D
