Holmes 73 Pendleton County 42

Recommended Posts

Wasn't at the game but from what I heard from a reliable source who was, Rice dominated and had several nice dunks. PC is decent obviously w/ Belcher but to be honest I think Holmes might just be that good.

Belcher was in double figures, but he could not contain Rice, he had Twenty plus points and several rebounds. PC will need to find more shooters if they are going to contend in the 10th, they are young and I believe they will improve over time. Rice scored at will all night and the dawgs cruised to an easy win.

How did Belcher fare against the Holmes contingent?

I believe he had around 12-14 points, some of which came after the games was in hand. He needs some help from the rest of his team. Holmes would double down on him and make other players shoot or kept Belcher away from the basket most of the night.

Is Pendleton that far off or is Holmes just THAT good? Deep inside I hope it's the first one.:sssh:

Holmes is pretty darn good and PC is going to struggle this year. Belcher is going to get his most nights but they didn't have a lot at the JV level last year. Those kids might have gotten better since last year but they had a long way to go to reach where PC has been the past couple of years.

Rice did dominated from inside out to about 8-10 from the basket at will. He had 1 dunk on a run out. There was 2 dunks in the game and Henderson had the other.

Holmes is a good team not a great team. They are a very fast athletic team at all positions on the floor and off the bench. They will run with anyone IMO. I liked the way they played as a team in that they where not selfish with the ball. They are cat quick on the full court press. They have some leapers and their press will be very hard to throw over. A good half court team will give them fits another opinion. I am not familiar with the teams in the 9th, but I believe Mason Co., GRC, and Bishop Brossart from the 10th would give them all they wanted. I was not impressed with Hill at last nights game, but I will reserve any comment because that is just one game. Rice is the man I was impressed with.

I have a couple of things to say about PC. To many turnovers and could not hit the outside shot. Not hitting the outside shot allowed Holmes to double and triple team Belcher all night. All the points that Kane got we created by himself one on one. PC has got to hit some outside shots to free up things for Kane or it is going to be a long season.

Someone said PC is descent. I don't know if that was being kind or they wanted to make Holmes look better.

Bottom line Holmes beat a very young PC team, and the win was impressive as it should have been. I have no doubt Coach Simms will have this PC team ready to play by districts. They are going to get some knots on their heads, but that is part of the learning process.

Go PC Wildcats

How did Belcher fare against the Holmes contingent?

He earned every point he got. Doubled and tripled team all night. He got most of his points when Holmes did not get a double team on him. Rice guarded him most of the night. When Kane was guarded 1 on 1 he either got his shot or got fouled. Kane looked pretty good when PC could get the ball to him which was not to often.

Did Jeremy Mudd play? I had heard on Monday he was extremely sick.

He did play. Had to sit some in the first half with 2 fouls. The PC guards had a very hard time with Holmes swarming press. They just had us out manned.
