I agree that enthusiasm begets enthusiasm and when the whole lower arena is not hopping, its hard for the students to get going too, since they are only in a couple sections down there.

Here is what I think. With UK being the program that it is, I feel like if you move some of the season ticket holders, you will still get that money because it still isnt easy to get tickets to the games. I may be wrong, but thats how I see it. They need to find a way to get students down closer to the court is the only thing I'm getting at.

I agree. The issue is really that they wont get the donations that are given for those seats. But what is really more important, money, or providing an environment that will attract the best players and lead to success. Well maybe thats not as easy for the administration to answer, but I know what the answer should be.

The only way, is to effectively re-do the entire season layout in Rupp and reassign them. Give the lower level season ticket holders, first choice on the location of their request, in the upper level.

No not until people realize it is a basketball game not a social event. When I am sitting in the lower arena I don't care who you are; how much you donate to the K fund; or what kind of sport coat you have on!! I am there to watch the game and cheer for the Cat's. I was once told to sit down at a UK game during a huge moment in the game. Well I stood the rest of the game time just out of principal! Let the students sit there older timer if you don’t want to stand up! KILLS ME!!!

The typical style under Tubby hasn't given the fans a lot to get excited about for starters. Stagnant offense, with scores in the 60's...

 

That, combined with the fact that the students don't get near enough seats, and don't get them in good spots...

I agree. They should probably keep the one end zone for students and at least give just the very lower level of the sides to students. There are kind of two lower levels and just giving the lowest, which isnt necessarily a lot, to students could make a difference in the way the whole arena responds.

Not anymore. Durham's Fire Marshall put the kabash on that. They also have to sit now.

 

You are wrong... They are just like they have been every year. The rule was not put into place because they made the exit doors more accessible or something to that nature but I do know the rule is not in use.

It's a simple case of "REACTIVE vs PROACTIVE"

UK needs to do something to make it more of an intimidating place to play. Right know it is not all that bad for the visiting teams.

 

The camron crazies are still standing on the court and screaming like crazy.

I wish that for one non-conference game a year, the university would allow general admission so that the loudest, rowdiest fans could get near the court.

 

Better yet, have it at Memorial and make everything free to students.

Cash makes the world go 'round, period. It's not confined to just college basketball.

The issue isn't about filling the seats. It's about the millions of dollars a year that those people sitting in the lower level give to the school. Take away our seats and you lose the money. Lose the money and you lose the program.
