John Hardin 62 Taylor County 51 (5th Region Finals)

It's a bitter pill for Taylor County to swallow knowing that Trevon Smith was unjustly ejected last night, leaving them without his 25 PPG. I saw where their AD tweeted out that the KHSAA has no appeals process for an ejection that a referee performs. I know that's a delicate situation, especially given the official shortages. But for him to get dropped the way he did and never throw a punch, and still get ejected, that's really hard to take.

I've been told there was a lot of extra stuff that led up to that incident. Wasn't the first T of the game.

I heard the same. It’s easy to judge from the brief video. But we don’t know what led up to it. Or, what he may have said while being separated.

Even so, when it comes to the moment of giving a T, I believe you've got to do something to justify it. I didn't see it in that incident. I don't have anything against LaRue County - think quite a bit of them in fact. But I saw a team that was frustrated and knew that they were in real trouble. And they started something that crippled their opponent for the next night.

I think a T could have solved it. This is where veteran officials would be so valuable. To have the ability to understand the situation and still keep control of the game.

If the KHSAA was made to watch that video, maybe Smith gets reversed.

But one Taylor player shoved a LaRue player in the back and then flipped off the crowd.

A second Taylor starter pushed a LaRue player before shoving a ref.

A review would NOT have been kind to Taylor.

There is also NO appeal unless the refs got the wrong number and NOT because of "did he do enough to be ejected". Since this really wasn't about Jersey/number confusion, appeal was worthless.
