Dixie Heights 67 Lloyd Memorial 58 (34th District Semifinals)

Final per KHSAA scoreboard.

Huge Lloyd fan, but if they ever want to be serious contenders that got to find a way to move out of that DIII conference (or whatever they are in) and up their schedule. Their current schedule did not prepare them for the post season. I feel like they got some nice pieces coming back and could make some noise next year....

Isn’t the D3 conference based on school size? Or, how do they determine that I should ask?

And, their schedule didn’t prepare them for Dixie? They beat Dixie in the regular season. And, they played Walton, NewCath, Holmes, Newport, Gallatin, Highlands, Brossart, and Boone and Ryle (bigger schools that are down this year, but not Lloyd’s fault). Who do you want them to play? Cooper, CCH, Scott County, Henry Clay, and Campbell County?

I also am not sure how they determine what conference teams will play in, but if schools have a choice, I'd like to see Lloyd move conferences. Naturally by moving conferences, it would require them to play schools like Cooper, CCH, and other top tier teams that will prepare them play a higher level of basketball than some of the other schools they play. My statement was for them to be serious contenders in the region, not talking about beating Dixie, but with the talent they have, they have to improve their scheduling in order to get them consistently playing at high levels. From that list provided, only Walton, Newport, Highlands, Gallatin, and Brossart have winning records and they were all losses (only 2 wins vs a team with a winning record (Brossart and Calvary)). If it requires them scheduling Scott County, Henry Clay, CCH, and other schools to get them playing better basketball on a consistent basis, then do it.

Lloyd Memorial does not play in the NKY Div. 1, 2, or 3. They play in the North Central Kentucky Conference, which consists of Owen County, Gallatin County, Walton-Verona, Trimble County, Henry County, Williamstown & Eminence. This was a change made by former AD and now principal Mike Key where the Juggernauts and Lady Juggernauts could play for a conference title.

That's interesting I was thinking they were in Division II.

Perhaps it's just because I rarely pay much attention to conference type results, but who really does, and do players even much care?

Sure they want to win any game they play, but does it really go through their heads that they're playing a conference game, and even if it did does it even matter to them like perhaps a district tournament game might for example?

Surprised at this result. There was some of the “under the radar, watch out for Lloyd” talk earlier this year, and they had already beaten Dixie.

Speaking for the actual NKAC Division III schools (Bellevue, Calvary, Dayton, Heritage, Ludlow, Silver Grove, Villa Madonna) the conference games are definitely big games for them. The districts can often be a struggle for the smallest of schools. Not that district games are not important, and that those teams cannot win a district, but the year in and year out chances of winning the conference give those kids something else to work and grow towards. With all of that being said, I have gotten the impression on here in the past that divisions II and I are a different story so I can only speak with confidence to DIII.

First and foremost, Lloyd must shoot the ball better from the floor and line, and keep Cody out of foul trouble if they expect to win basketball games.

This seems inaccurate. Lloyd is a part of the NKBBCA Division 2 teams. In that Division are Lloyd,St. Henry, Beechwood, Newport, Highlands, NewCath, Holy Cross, and Bishop Brossart. Therefore, they should, or have to, play all of these teams.

They are in the NCKC, not the NKAC. With that being said, they did play every team you listed this season. NKBBCA does not have any scheduling requirements that I am aware of and is not part of the "conference" discussion.

Understood. THanks!

NKBBCA, NCKC, NKAC, Div. 1, 2, 3

I give up. :idunno:

I do believe that I predicted this result.
