Long Time Warrior
Here's a question for all you football fans. Your the Head Coach and your team is in the playoffs and if you continue winning you will host on your home field through out. Now, in your county the youth football league are wanting to use your field to play their final games on. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 games. There is another high school field across town (3ml.) they can play on because they will no longer be playing games on this field because this team will not be hosting any games. Do you allow them to use your field or do you tell them they need to use the other field? The reason I pose this question because this senerio arose in Somerset. Myself and a co-worker had a long discussion about why I wouldn't allow it at all. She just couldn't understand. Let's hear from you guys. BGP's finest!!! HailToTheChief
It should be played on the field that is not being used. 4 games would tear a field up especially in this weather. I'm with you 100% LTW they shouldn't let them use your field.
TRUE REDHOUND
I agree, if there are other options use them.
jvdfc
Absolutely the game should be played at the other field.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess your co-worker's kid would've played one of the games that should be moved to the field not being used. MJK3490
The younger kids should play on the other field. The highschool game is first one you should worry about.
FBALL
The Russell JFL has their own field so this is not an issue anymore. If there is a viable option it should be used.
Long Time Warrior
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess your co-worker's kid would've played one of the games that should be moved to the field not being used. I believe they had a kid that would have played. They divide the youth program into a North/South playoff. They alternate playing fields ever year. North side playing on Pulaski Co. field and South side plays on Southwestern's field. They (the players) look forward to playing on the Big Boy's field. I understand about wanting to play on your turf and going to be your home field someday but with the way the weather has been you just couldn't allow it especially since the other field was not going to be used at all. My co-worker had a kid on the north side but was aruging for the South side. I told her she would understand in a few years. I agree with Coach Anderson or Southwestern's AD or who ever, it just made sense to use the other field especially having the playoffs at home through out. Theoldguy
LTW, I have a question, can the KHSAA take a game away from the team that was to host the playoff game, if the field is in KHSAA opinion, unplayable? If they can, then the HS Coach is right in not allowing them to use it....

Nonnac
I would not let them play on my field. This season east carter high school went under construction. As a result of that the teams practice field was not usable, therefore all football took place on east carters playing field. Peewee games, middle school games, high school practice, and high school games were all held on this 1 field. The weekend of the Fleming Co @ East Carter game a storm came in, and as a result of the field being used so much the game was postponed for a monday, because the field had become muddy and flooded. So there is 1 example of why its always a good idea to keep as little activity on your playing field as possible, especially in the playoffs :thumb:
Henry521
In Fort Thomas we don't have an issue with playing field due to the field turf (this is why we have field turf), but if this scenerio had arisen in Ft. Thomas, I am confident (being very involved in the Little League) that if we had a Little League game scheduled on the high school field it would have been moved or canceled if it would have at all effected the field for a playoff game. We try to look at the bigger picture, it's all about Highlands football and the little league is the beginning of that vision.
