If UVA loses again to Duke in the regular season, but wins the ACC Tourney, they will get a 1 seed. As far as UK losing to UT... I don't think the committee factors in the SEC Championship (tourney) with it being played on Sunday. If they split in the regular season, I don't think it matters who wins the tourney.
January 29, 20197 yr Duke, Tennessee, Michigan, Virginia Then everybody else right now IMO. Agree, unless one just has a collapse. For the ones that think UK could be a one seed, it is possible but not likely. Yes, if they sweep Tennessee and maybe only lose one game it is possible.

Are you going under the assumption that Virginia won't lose to anyone other than Duke the rest of the regular season? I think they lose at least 2 more games in the regular season, maybe more.

January 29, 20197 yr It's much more likely that UK gets a two seed. Seems like it would be easier to cross your fingers that you're the two seed in Duke or UVA's region rather than the long shot of them being a one seed. They'll have to beat UT three times to even have a chance at a one. Then they'll still need Michigan State, Michigan, and Gonzaga to stumble, not just Duke/UVA. I don't think UK will have to beat Tennessee three times at all for that to happen. If they beat them twice, that will be good enough. As for Michigan State they just stumbled already this past weekend, and I see them stumbling a few more times. Michigan I think will have a few more losses coming too. UK imo is in basically the same spot as Michigan State, Michigan, and Tennessee to get that final 1 seed. All will depend how each team finishes this season out. I think the only way UK plays in the Louisville Region is if they get the 1 seed and past Virginia. If UK doesn't end up as a 1 seed in the South. I don't see the committee putting UK in the South as a 2 seed. That wouldn't exactly be fair to the one seed having to play basically a road game against the 2 seed. At the end of the day though UK and all the teams we just mentioned have to take care of business. Or else it won't matter anyways. It should be a fun last month of the season.

January 29, 20197 yr UK is not getting a 1 seed. I'm certainly never going to be confused with being a UK fan, but I don't think it is definitively so as you seem to. Gonzaga has cupcake city the rest of the way, they will end up the #1 seed out west. Virginia has 4 potentially dicey games the rest of the way, NOT including Duke at home (at UNC, at VaTEch, at UL, and at Syracuse). Duke has 4 dicey games still to play (at Virginia, at UL, at VaTech, and at UNC), so again, not a lock to get to the finish line with even one more loss. Michigan has Michigan State twice, plus at Iowa and at Maryland. Michigan State has Michigan twice (obviously), plus at Wisconsin. Tennessee has two with UK, at LSU, and at Auburn. Houston is a toss for me in terms of being a #1 seed. So honestly, UK has a very good chance of getting to the 1 line given all of the carnage that COULD develop over the next 5 weeks. Plus, I'm not even getting into what COULD happen in the conference tourneys. If I was handicapping the odds of getting a one seed today, on January 29th, by my confidence level, I'd go like this: 1. Gonzaga (mortal lock) 2. Duke 3. Michigan State 4. Virginia 5. Michigan 6. Kentucky 7. Tennessee 8. North Carolina (a LOT of chances left to make an impression) 9. Houston 10. Virginia Tech (have a pretty favorable ACC schedule remaining, both UVA and Duke are at home, toughest road tilts left are at NC State and at FSU)

January 30, 20197 yr Author Us UK fans should root for Duke to beat Virginia again, and win the ACC. That would lock Duke in as the 1 seed in the East. UK with their tough remaining schedule, including 2 and possibly even 3 games against Tennessee. Has a chance to get a 1 seed, but most likely will also need to pass Virginia up to be the 1 seed in the South. Which the South regional is in Louisville this year. So that would be huge for UK to be able to play in Louisville for possible sweet 16 and elite 8 games. I see your point and agree with the reasoning. I just really like UVA, their coach, style of play and I kind of pull for them when / if not playing U.K.. Should U.K. get two wins over UT and not drop any that may be upsets then they may get a 1 seed. I actually believe that U.K. is in line for maybe a 2 seed.

UK at this very moment already would be a 2 seed. With UKs remaining schedule, they have a very good opportunity to work it's way up to a 1 seed. UK got a 2 seed two years ago, and this UK team is playing better now than that team at this point. So I definitely think they will be at least a 2 seed, with just a good of chance at a 1 seed as the teams they are competing with for it.
January 30, 20197 yr I'm not going to lie to you @futurecoach, I read every College Basketball post of yours now with this glowing in neon lights: I rarely watch any other college basketball game besides UK until the NCAA tournament.

UK is the one team where I will sit down and watch the whole game. Now when other top games are on I may watch 10 minutes of so of the game action or the end of games. But I rarely watch whole games of other teams. Between teaching, coaching, spending time with family and friends. I dont sit to make time to watch whole games of other teams. Now I will read about all these other teams. Watch highlights of these other teams. Listen to peoples insights of all these other teams. Usually always watch sports center at night after everyone else is asleep. To help have a better understanding of other teams. However when it comes down to watching full games like I do for every UK game. I rarely do that for other teams.
