kyag Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 I have nothing to say...missed opportunities by Conner. Coach Sullivan gets the most out of his team, they just grind the opponent down in the 4th quarter when they have the lead and they don’t miss many free throws.
Mr. Sixer Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Cooper’s best asset is they play as a team. All players have a role and they play it well while any of them could be the leading scorer, rebounder, or assist leader, etc. and nobody cares. No superstars, just a bunch of players that go out and grind and play the way coach Sully wants them to, no flash, no high flyers. Just good old fashion hard nosed defense and a deliberate offense give them a chance to win. Most don’t like it but it’s difficult to argue with the results.

I have seen this on both JV and varsity. It is something special. It appears that egos are checked at the door. It’s always a team win. Love that their warm up shirts say “Family”.

PP1 Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 I think Conner is better then their record suggests. I expect them to go to the regional tournament and they could knock off an opposing district champion.
The Double Deuce Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 I expect them to go to the regional tournament Well, given that they'll only have to beat either Boone or Ryle, which in February of 2019 isn't a tough ask, I'd say making the regional should be fait accompli at this point.

Buster Douglas knocking out Mike Tyson was more likely than Ryle or Boone beating Cooper.

leititgo33 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 I was talking about Conner. My fault, i need glasses. My Tyson and Douglas comparison doesnt work now. lol

kyag Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) Coopers defense is tough. Just my opinion, Conner coming back and taking the lead helped this young team understand they can play with the big dogs. Conner went with 1 senior, 1 junior, and 3 sophomores when they went on their run in the 1st half. 12 turnovers and 2 of 9 shooting from beyond the arc will need to be improved if Conner plays them again in the district finals. A big wow to Cole Skiles for his James Worthy imitation dunk in the first half. I can’t see many kids dunking against Cooper. Edited January 25, 2019 by kyag Typo
