Well, the first part of your post is completely absurd. It's not like homosexuals are going to suddenly convert all the straight people. That's laughable on its face.

 

The last part, I will refer back to my earlier post: It doesn't take much for a gullible congregation to misread a lathered-up preacher (perhaps intentionally on the preacher's part) and go straight to hating the sin and the sinner.

I guess I'm just in a rare foul mood this evening, but I'm genuinely tired of having people's sexuality forced upon me. Homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, asexual, anti-sexual. I don’t understand the need to identify one’s self based upon one’s sexual proclivities.

I understand what you mean, and I agree. However, the unfortunate reality is that most of the country does feel that need, and in the case of homosexuals, uses it as an excuse/justification for discrimination and even violence.

Am I reading this correctly? You are saying that most (over 50%) of the country actively discriminates and/or perpetrates violence against homosexuals?

No. I said most of the country sees a need to define themselves in terms of their sexuality. Should have clarified that better.

And no one is forcing you to. But your post made it sound as though there were some intense social pressure for you to turn gay.

So, some preacher railing on week in and week out about the "evil homosexual agenda" would in no way, shape or form influence people to hatred? C'mon now …

 

A preacher, so preachers are bad people now huh? Guess we should tell people to stop going to church and just read the bible and pray together in their homes. Sense preachers hate homosexuals apparently....

I also agree to an extent, I've had a few friends whom I didn't know were gay for quite some time. I think it's sad that alot of times it comes out through gossip or people being flamboyent. Maybe I'm a laid back guy I dunno, but I really can't remember the last time I thrusted my sexuality preference out on to the public(drunken stupidity doesn't count).

Heard/read an interesting statement from one of the supposed national religious leaders and I really don't know what to make of it but found it interesting.

 

When asked why they had an organized plan to oppose homosexuality, his response was that the special interest group promoting homosexuality was the one that brought this whole thing to the forefront by seeking specialized protection. Also, he went on to say that it was the only sin that had it's own special interest group.

 

I would say that there are other sins that have their own special interest groups and the politicians themselves promote the lying sinful nature.

So organized religion should be banned ..... just because some members of organized religion are against homosexuality. Maybe any group or organization that that has members that say anything against something you are for should be disbanned.

 

Lets quit watching TV...Because of The View......I think a lot of people disagree with a lot of things they preach on that show.

 

Let's never watch a movie or buy a DVD or CD again....Because some singers and actors have a different belief than we do and have a greater podium for their views than we do.

It is a ignorant person (Elton John) that argues against something just because of the words or actions of a few.

 

It would be like wanting to get rid of all teachers because a few had sex with their students, or getting rid Democrats because some of them supported the bombing of abortion clinics.

 

Do not lump all Christians in with the ones spouting hate. Understanding and respect for each others differences is the only way for man to co-exsist and grow together.

Sorry if I confused your statement. I have heard much fear-mongering over the years over the "evil homosexual agenda," which some seem to believe is to turn all the straight people gay.
