Who do X fans pull for Friday night?

Featured Replies

I will be pulling for T.

I am not a graduate of either X or T, but I thought this to be an interesting and thought provoking thread.

I think you could (as some have) argue this several ways. You could use the private/public or catholic/non-catholic approaches.

But the way I would see it is this....year in and year out, Male & X have beaten each other to death (usually twice a year) and I think those games are far more competitive and mean a lot more (with usually something other than pride on the line....district spot and then playoff progression). In the end, I would think, though I could be wrong, that X folks would love to see Male progress because of shear competitiveness. I know that my firend at Male pulls for X if they beat Male and advance because he comes from the old school "you root for your in-house" opponents. He is a grad of Manual (Go figure) and always said "after the Male/Manual game, you always looked to see if Male won...thats just the way it was". Having said that...I think whoever you root for and for whatever reason you do it, it should be done out of love and respect for that school and not out of pure hatred for another.

Good luck Male...good job X for a fine season. And good luck to both in 07 with their new districts. The district battles will be missed by this R2D4 fan.

You thought wrong; I'm pulling for H.

:thumb: I will pull for the district one last time.

I'll be pulling for T but not because of the Catholic/Public debate but because some of the kids on T's team played grade school ball with my kids. Its a personal interest..I like those kids..

...although if it weren't for the classy T fans on BGP like RP, TD, and RockMOM...some of the other T posters would make you want to pull against them.....

But those guys do not represent the true nature of Trinity. Trinity is a fine classy place that RP, TD, and RM represent very well. There are bad apples everywhere.

Xman85, You are absolutely right! It's not fair to chastise the posters with class on this board for the posts and statements of those who lack class. Those you mentioned above are all class acts. Not only do they support Trinity, but have repeatedly and publicly been in support of St. X, Holy Cross and De Sales on this board. I know it’s hard for some to accept, but there is enough room in Kentucky High School Football for, two, top notch, 4A, soon to be 6A, private school programs.

It’s JMO, but, if you have to try to make your program look better by downgrading your competition, it speaks very poorly of you as an individual, not the program you are trying to make look better. Some people might be naive enough to buy in to what you are selling, rather than looking at the program itself and allowing it to stand on its own merit; but not me.

Fortunately, because of my life long dedication to the Catholic Church, I know what foundation Trinity was built on. What is stated on the Trinity web site sums it up, “To provide students with a superior high school education in a supportive atmosphere based upon Christian values in the Catholic tradition.” Someone please explain to me how the posts and statements of posters on this board, NOT mentioned above, and you know who you are, fulfill this statement.

It’s probably because I graduated from another one of our other all male Catholic High Schools other than X or T, but I have always said to all my Trinity friends that I will root for you, until you play St. X, because my son plays for St. X. If he played for Trinity it would be the other way around.

Bottom Line: It should be both of our missions to be as good as we can be to attract as many kids as possible to our respective programs. We all need to be ambassadors; not lambasters. Treat others the way you want to be treated!

GO ROCKS!

I like this post!

I like this post!

Me too. Thank you Archbishop Kelly!!

I guess Male doesn't have any Catholics on the team.

Touche:lol:

Just wanted to clarify my earlier post. I REALLY did think X or T would pull for one another simply because of the common bond the two institutions share, Catholicism.

Why the confussion CFJ? Blood IS thicker than water.

Trust me when I say the Band of Brothers that St. X proclaims as their bond, extends well beyond their own players and the playing field, it is alive and well at Trinity, Assumption, De Sales, Sacered Heart, Holy Cross and many many others. It encompasses everyone we touch and everything we do. If you want an example, go to the "Victor Anderson" thread on this board and read xtiger's post about Vic.

You have to be a part of it to fully appreciate it. BTW, We have RCIA classes that start every September, we will take you in any time you are ready, all you have to do is ask.

go rocks...............OUCH!!!

Even after having to endure reading Barerocks post in the Male X thread I am pulling for the Rocks.

I suspect there are even public schoools pulling for Trinity b/c of the "talent and advantages" H seems to have over the other Jefferson County schools.

Here's to our rebound in 2007!!

The game will be broadcast on 900 AM and streaming on the internet. Go to thsrock.net and click on "listen to Rocks Football".
