All State Baseball Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Is time winding down for Frank Martin's time as South Carolina head coach? He's had 4 winning seasons since taking over before the 2012/13 season. Two 17-16 seasons, 14-18, 25-9, 26-11 and he currently stands at 4-7 this season. 117-97 since he's been at South Carolina. Has only been ranked twice, 2015/16 was ranked 19th (highest) and 20016/17 was ranked 16th (highest), the 2016/17 season he also took the Gamecocks to the final four, which was his only NCAA tournament appearance at South Carolina. So again, is time winding down for Frank Martin in Columbia?
Jumper_Dad Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Maybe, but I could see them giving him another year or so. SC isn't driven by basketball, so that should help. FWIW from what I've seen of him he's a great leader of young men.
All State Baseball Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 When he was at Kansas State, he made the NCAA tournament every year except for 1 (2008/9). He's not really done much since he's been at South Carolina. I would think the Big 12 would be a tougher conference than the SEC but the SEC isn't a bad conference and is better now than what it use to be.
TheDeuce Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Does South Carolina care about basketball? Who could win consistently there?
sweet16 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 He's not really done much since he's been at South Carolina. 2017 Final Four
16thBBall Fan Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 2017 Final Four Just what I was getting ready to say.
UKMustangFan Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Dude he took them to the Final Four 2 years ago. He can be there as long as he desires.
westernky Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 I think because South Carolina isn’t a “basketball school” he is pretty secure because of his success 2 years ago. But he has to continue to have winning seasons. Also what is his record against Clemson since he’s been at SC?

westernky Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 South Carolina isn’t a “basketball school” or a “football school”. I’m not sure what you’d call it but they’re not a traditional power in either of those sports.
All State Baseball Posted December 28, 2018 Author Posted December 28, 2018 1 Final four appearance. 20 games above .500. He's not the same Coach he was when he was at Kansas State. He's done more at Kansas State which is in a tougher conference than the SEC than he has at South Carolina.
