Considering the last crime commited on this bridge, should there be a police presence to curb some of the crime. Anyone venturing out on the bridge after dark is taking a serious chance. Thats a shame.

The crime first took place on serpintine wall by the steps. Then they went up the steps to the bridge. The Purple bridge has cameras that are monitored by the Levey security. The security people walked by the criminal and the young girl. But security wasn't alerted out of her own safety.

 

The purple bridge is the safest bridge in the area. It just so happened 1 bad person was targeting a young couple at the wrong time. I hope for a long jail sentence for him and a speedy recovery for the young people.

 

The media will not tell you the serpinte wall is not safe. And the media will not profile so they used the bridge as the problem.

Personally, I dont think either Newport or downtown Cincinnati are safe at night. The day time is much safer. I wouldnt want my teenagers walking the bridge at night.

In this case the criminal took advantage of these two being alone. I too think Cincinnati is a very dangerous city. Hopefully they can change that reputation in the next few years. I think that they need more jail space, but in the last election in Cincinnati that was voted down.

Not safe especially when Hamilton Co. wants to release prior felons with armed robbery charges, stealing a car after he was paroled...and then let out 3 months early because of overcrowding. The Hamilton Co. Taxpayers put him back on the streets and they all should be sued by the victims.

Do you know anything about the bill that was put in front of the voters?

 

The bill that was put up for a vote, first of all was worded so crazily, I would never have voted for it either.

 

Secondly, it allocated money to build a new jail. And absolutely not a dime to run it, staff it or have any kind of programs to run inside it.

 

A jail the size and sophistication that they wanted to build would have drained the county dry in a matter of 2-3 years.

 

I work for Hamilton County, we are already in such a budget crunch, that taking on something of that nature on top of our already dwindling budget would have been the death of this county.

 

We have had a hiring freeze for almost two years and 4 times been asked in the middle of the year to scale back our already approved budget b/c the money was just not there.

 

I applaud the Hamilton County voters for being intelligent enough to realize just how bad of a proposal this was.

 

I would be all for a new jail, b/c I see on a daily basis how badly it is needed, but it needs to be built with the proper funding and support.

This is an isolated incident that started at the serpintine wall. That is why he was tied up for an hour and no one saw him. It is a shame for the young people.

They are profiling the bridges when is a different demographic that causes the problem. That is like blaming the car for a drunk driver. Blame the driver. In this cases blame the demographic of young people who are causeing the problems downtown and in there own neighborhood.

I do know a couple of teenagers that were robbed at gunpoint not so long ago on that bridge. I guess some don't see that as a problem:confused:

I do have to say I've walked that bridge many times at night and never once felt afraid.

 

But I was with 3-4 other guys.

All due respect, this is not a good analogy. First of all, I dont know anyone who blames the car for a drunk driver. Second, drunk drivers are random and cannot be predicted. You know where the bridge is and the neighborhood as well.

There is a difference between letting fear keep you from enjoying life, and placing yourself in a situation that you know might be dangerous.

I didn't laugh, I smiled. I'm not afraid to walk across that bridge period. I've been in some scary situations/places and that isn't one of them.
