Ryle 81 Campbell County 61

Recommended Posts

Can you expound on this a little? They were injured going into the game? They were hurt during the game? They play for Ryle? They play for CCHS?

Sorry. It was a frustrating game to watch as it seemed Campbell was unnecessarily rough at the coaches direction. The score was 26-5 after one quarter. Refs let a lot of contact happen, maybe cause they felt bad for Campbell. Crittenden in second quarter and Schwartz in third both left the game with injuries.

For high school girls basketball he is over the top emotionally. Should be coaching college ball probably instead. It would be more acceptable to behave that way in a college gym.

Both Ryle players tripped over their own feet, nothing “rough” about either play.

Perhaps they were getting tired from battling the Camel press in the 2nd half? They had quite a few turnovers.

Weak first quarter for the Camels no doubt, had the deer in headlights look about them. They settled down and put up almost 60 points in 3 quarters vs The Raiders.

As for calling out a coach for having emotion and his team playing tough, I’m not seeing it. Again, there was two non-contact turned ankles.

Let's not forget the swinging elbow Sherr caught in the face that was NEVER called!

End of the game CC kids holding, grabbing and even threw a player down and nothing was called.

Very rough game to say the least. Hoping to see Crittendon and Schwartz suit up against the birds because I agree it will be a good game. Not sure on my prediction yet because of not knowing the status of the injured players. I'd say it will be a great game but if those two are out of action it could be trouble.

I would rather have a coach who cares a little too much for the players and winning than a coach that doesn’t care much. Unfortunately in girls basketball there are a bunch of those.

You are right about the injuries, they were ankles not a body blow or something. And as you mentioned they were partly because of getting tired from all the pressing and man defense.

I don’t concede the idea that Campbell at any point was ever going to get back in the game or that Campbell was competitive with Ryle. The mismatch in skill, athleticism, and length was almost comical. If Ryle was motivated and did not play their JV players as much as they did during the game they could’ve scored 100 points and kept Campbell below 40.

I also don’t concede that you could not see the Campbell coach being over emotional in a blowout game. You did see him get a technical right? Given the mismatch of the two teams is why the coaches drive to push his players to be more aggressive seemed so out of place.

At no point did I think the Campbell girls were trying to hurt anyone. They were just playing as hard as they could.

Gotta call this one out! Really don't know any high school coaches that don't care about the kids and winning. They're not doing it for the money... C'MON MAN!

This coach, however, can push it a smidge over the top. Last year he scouts a rival by bringing his starting five and sitting in the first row behind the scoutee's bench. First, have just a little respect. Second, when rival coach has the entire JV sit/stand directly in front of him/starting five, he cries to the AD on site.....another C'MON MAN!!! Take it back to Claryville...

So, when the Ryle coach was still screeching at the top of her lungs towards the end of last year’s game when Campbell had your super human athletes down 20, was she being too emotional?

When one of your highly skilled players, with their unmatched athleticism aggressively fouled twice at the end of that game, just to get off the floor, was that too rough? Certainly it must have been your coach’s fault?

Had Campbell not relaxed last year after smoking the Raiders by 25 plus points for 3 quarters, and if they had just focused, they would have beaten your Ryle team by 50, right?

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Campbell had taken Ryle to the woodshed 4 straight years and you finally beat them. Congrats.

You have a nice team. Campbell played hard until the end. That is not a crime, and coaching until the end of a game and never giving up is not a crime either. You won. Be proud of your team and quit calling the kettle black and calling a group of high school athletes comical. No one did that after you were drubbed last year.

Good luck to Ryle.

This is way off the topic of the game thread and completely misleading.
