Coach has a bad tendency of pushing the panic button if he falls behind. Coach Edge for O'boro Catholic is always good for one upset per season and he hasn't hit that feat yet. I think Catholic will be giving Mercer a game just like the unstoppable Fort Campbell team last year.:dancingpa

Thay might want to worry about Trigg for the moment.

Newport's defense played a great game. I think all Mercer had in total rushing yards was around 180 yards. Ford was held to 33 yards, Walker was held to around 60, and Jackson was held to around 80 yards. Titans had 2 passing TD's - one from Morgan to Chase Wofford and one from Cory Jackson to Daryl Smith. Daryl Smith had 2 interceptions - one he returned for a TD. Freeman Edwards had one TD on an onsides kick, he picked up the ball, reversed the field and scooted 50 yards to the endzone.

The offense was held in check tonight, but the MC Titans defense proved why they are the real deal!

Everywhere we go....

Great job Titans.

Congrats Newport on a very good season. #20 for you guys was a player.

Hope everyone had a safe trip home. Hate to see this rivalry end, there have been some really good ball games over the years. You guys will be a force in 2A next year. You're new district is going to be tuff, but it sure will cut down on travel time.

Congrats to Newport for a great season and to Mercer County -- Good Luck for the remainder of the season. As far as the game -- IMO -- where was this #4 all season. This kid played a great game on offense. He caught some great passes throughout the game. I saw this kid come back for a pass when their QB was in trouble. Their QB has to be commended for his ability to overcome off field issues. He proved that he is a real competitor and knows how to take care of business on the field. That #2 -- all I can say about him is WOW. Kid you've got a future. Newport's defense was outstanding -- Great Job!

...who we are..

They are favorite to win this game, this would not be an upset. the first time OC would be an underdog is when they face Mercer Co. Trigg will be tough but catholic just has that explosive offense clicking on all cylinders now.

... so we tell them...

I don't think the offense was held in check. The offense only had the ball 4 times in the 1st half. They should of been up 3 TD's at the half but one was called back. They only punted the ball one time. The drive to start the 2nd half consumed over 7 minutes to take a 3 TD lead.

I agree! Pick your poison. Give up the quick score and get overwhelmed. Or like last night once they got going they just chewed up yardage and the clock.

....We are the Titans

Congratulations Titans, you are almost half way there. Good Luck the rest of the way.
