November 15, 200619 yr Apparently LA's GM had some scathing remarks about JD Drew, the guy is always injured, teams give him the benefit of doubt since he's so talented then he walks when his option year comes.
November 16, 200619 yr Toronto Bluejays are reportedly close in making a deal to DH Frank Thomas. I guess the A's couldn't hold on to the Big Hurt.

JD doesn't care what the LA GM thinks. The guy is going to get paid more than the 3/$33M the Dodgers offered.
November 16, 200619 yr Just found this out but Jerry Cransick of ESPN radio is reporting that the Braves are close to completing a deal with the Padres that would include this: Braves Send: 2B-Marcus Giles LHP-Horacio Ramirez C- Jarrod Salmatachha(sp?)-coveted minor league prospect! In exchange with the Padres for: P- Jake Peavy RP- Scott Lilenbrink If true then a true steal for the Braves and a bright future for the Padres. Braves are a win now team and with this deal this would put their pitching staff the best in the NL.

November 16, 200619 yr Peavy for Giles? Awful... May be but he is a very good defensive second baseman and after they traded up and coming Josh Barfield they need to fill that void and Giles did very well against the NL west last year, and who knows maybe he just needs a change. Jarrod will be a great player in a couple of years and when healthy Ramirez is very good.
November 16, 200619 yr According to reports it seems that FA Jason Schmidt has narrowed his choices down to the Giants or the Mariners.

November 16, 200619 yr It also appears that Bonds will be with another team next year! http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2663688
November 16, 200619 yr No way to spin it. That's as one sided of a trade as I've seen in a while... In no way is it an even trade but look at some trades that have went down. Phillies get Millwood braves get Estrada. That looked very one sided to start out. Gary Sheffield for Brian Jordan and Odalis Perez. Edgar Renteria for Andy Marte Tim Hudson for Juan cruz, i think someone else, and some other guy.. can't think of his name right off hand. It may be one sided but JS always seems to get teams to agree to the trades.
November 16, 200619 yr Some Players Who Could Be With Different Teams 1) Adam Dunn - Reds 2) Vernon Wells - Blue Jays 3) Mark Teixeira - Rangers 4) Andruw Jones - Braves 5) Carl Crawford - Devil Rays
November 16, 200619 yr Some Players Who Could Be With Different Teams 1) Adam Dunn - Reds 2) Vernon Wells - Blue Jays 3) Mark Teixeira - Rangers 4) Andruw Jones - Braves 5) Carl Crawford - Devil Rays Only way he won't be with the Braves is if it happens during the offseason and it's one heck of a blockbuster deal. JS has said that he has no intentions of trading Andruw and once the season has started Andruw has said that he will honor his contract and veto any trade proposed to him because he wants to finish the season a Brave. So it's either trade him before the season or hope that he can carry the team to a World Series before he walks out to another team!
