Just looked it up...that's correct. He is currently the longest living President, although Carter is only 110 days younger, and is still living.

Wednesday, December 5th: 8:45am ET - Conclusion of the public visitation in the Captol rotunda.

 

Wednesday, December 5th: 11:00am ET - President Bush's memorial service at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC.

 

Wendesday, December 5th: 7:45pm ET - President Bush's body will lie in repose at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston.

 

Thursday, December 6th: 7:00am ET - Conclusion of the repose/visitation at St. Marin's Episcopal Church in Houston.

 

Thursday, December 6th: 11:00am ET - Memorial service for President Bush at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston.

 

Thursday, December 6th: 4:45pm ET - Arrival ceremony at Texas A&M University

 

Thursday, December 6th: 5:15pm ET - Memorial ceremony and the interment the George Bush Presidential Library & Museum, where President Bush will be laid to rest alongside former 1st Lady Barbara Bush, and their daughter Robin, who died of leukemia as a child.

I didn't realize that President Bush is only the 32nd person to have lain in state at the Capitol Rotunda. I had kind of just assumed that all deceased Presidents would have been lain in state.

 

There have also been 4 individuals to have lain in honor in the Capitol Rotunda.

FYI, they are preparing to take the President's casket from the US Capitol to the National Cathedral right now. There is televised coverage on most of the major television networks.

The video of Senator Dole being wheeled up to the casket, being helped to his feet to salute was some powerful stuff.

 

41 sure seemed like a remarkable man. We, as a Country, lost a great one.

If you get a chance, check out Dana Carvey's interview with Conan this past week. I think it was Conan. He really describes the unique relationship he and Bush formed after the SNL skits. Amazing how George 41 took it as simple comedy.

Good point. They apparently got very close. I've heard multiple times in the last few days that Barbara Bush in her later years frequently would refer to Clinton as her 5th son.
