Clark vs. Grim

Featured Replies

These two back share one very important trait: Most likely both of them will be continuing their education and football career at a college for free or at a discounted price, and at the end of the day, thats what matters most.

Read the stats.

Clark - more TDs

Grim - more yards rushing

Clark - more yards recieving

Yep, I see the point in that argument.

And Grimm is only a junior he will surpass 4000 yard on his career easy next season.

Clark now has 997 yards recieving in his career. With three more yards he will become only the second player in Russell's history to eclipse 1,000 yards in rushing and 1,000 yards recieving for their career. The other is Eric Day with 1,134 yards rushing and 1,423 yards recieving.

I'm not sure, maybe somebody could help on this. How many players in the state have eclipsed 4,000 yards rushing and 1,000 recieving in their careers? I doubt there are many.

I'll take Grim in this match. But I havnt really seen Clark play too much.

Anyone know how many yards he had coming into this season?

He had somewhere around 500 yards he didnt get the ball much he was mainly a blocker for Ron. I remember in the Greenup game last year Ron got hurt and Grimm had 197 yards and that was the only time he had alot of carries

Stats are overrated, imo.

Last year Bobby Owens led the state in rushing through 10 games, but I would venture to say he was nowhere near the Top 20 runners in the state.

By the way, I'm not making an argument for or against either back. I'm just saying that personally, I would think seeing both backs play against a close to equal opponent would be about the best comparison a person could make.

Well first off, I cant compliment on who is the better of the two backs without seeing them both in action. But this is what I do know.

Shawn Grimm is alot stronger than most people think. His size hurts his potential in peoples eyes that have not seen him. The fact is Grimm is exceptional strong for his stature, has break away speed, and an incredibly fast first step.

On the other hand, Clark is probably alittle stronger than Grimm and has a bigger stature but is probably a step slower than Grimm.

In a common opponent between the two, being the Ashland Tomcats, Grimm rushed for 303 yds while Clark had 153 yds rushing. I dont think this means that Grimm is better than Clark, cause other factors can play a role into rushing yards, but he had the better game against the Tomcats of the two. Either way, Im just glad #20 Shawn Grimm is on my team.:thumb:

Ill not argue that.

That is a good point...Also this kid is only a junior.

Can I have both?

I actually think Josh Gross was better than both. Smaller than Clark, bigger than Grim and quicker than either one. IMO as good as if not better than Beach as well.

Gross was never as good as Beach and was not even close.

WOW I would like to see some stats to verify that. KHSAA state records could put that to rest. I don't recall seeing a lot in there from Beach. Granted he is playing in the NFL but we are talking high school football.

Here is what I came up with upon doing a litte research. Keep in mind that I know for a fact that Gross very seldom ever played the second half of a game. I do not know about Beach. Maybe someone with ties to Ashland can fill me in.

All are taken from the KHSAA website's records link.

Basing it purely on stats I'll have to take Gross in his High School careers. I would have to take Beach now due to the fact he has went father to date.
