Male 20 Saint Xavier 10

Tough loss for the Tigers. A few too many mistakes for them to overcome it seemed like.

Good job Male. See you next week.

Turnovers and Male WR Cummings was difference in game. X QB Sivori had 2 interceptions, but played well for Frosh getting his first Varsity start. Future looks bright for him. Male QB Played very well also. Congrats to Male!

Indeed.

Congrats to Male. St. X’s Jack Sivori playing solid at quarterback as a freshman with zero days of practices in pads was impressive. The defense did a great job tonight making plays and keeping it in striking distance. Any TEAM that can sustain injuries to the starting 2 quarterbacks and starting running back and can keep the game within a single possession is a testament to the staff and young men. Although the future is very bright, this team slugged it out in the face of severe adversity. Go Tigers.

Sivori played well enough to keep the Tigers in the game. 2 key special teams mistakes cost the Tigers the game in my opinion. In the first half, St. X got a punt blocked deep in their own territory which set up a Male score. In the 4th quarter, the St. X defense had made a key stop, but the Tigers muffed the punt which set up Male on the 30 yard line going in.

In a game with adversity such as playing a backup QB with limited practice time (regardless of whether of not he is a freshman), special teams have to be an advantage. Instead, they were a liability on Friday night for the Tigers. The offense and defense, while not playing perfectly, played well enough to eek out a tough win; the special teams did not.

Yes, punt blocked in back to back games. I’m sure that will be worked on and hopefully improved next season.

Congrats to the Tigers on their fine season.

Overcame a lot of adversity.

Took the measure of the Rocks.
