Most people were expecting another Mayfield/Owensboro Catholic regional final. But Murray (8-4) had other plans. The Tigers rallied from a 26-0 deficit early in the second quarter to top the Aces in the second round. That win earned them a second look at Mayfield. Yay? The Cardinals (12-0) have surpassed 50 points on seven occasions this season, including a season high 63 the first time these teams met. Kent Trey Matthews ran wild in that game, to the tune of 257 yards and 4 TDs.

Still shocked that Murray won that game. Their road ends here though. Mayfield by 30+ again.

I cant believe that OC allowed that to happen. At any rate. I cant see Murray having a game plan to hang with Mayfield. They will have to throw it long and throw it often. In the end 48-14 Mayfield

Mayfield gets one step closer to the "Grocery" and does so in convincing fashion, likely a running clock by half.

Never Forget. I was young then, riding to the game with my parents. We were always a couple minutes late to the games. Very rarely saw kickoff. We had the game on the radio during our 5 minute drive to the stadium. We hear that Murray ran back the opening kickoff for a td. We arrived a couple minutes after the damage was done. Neither team scored the remainder of the game. Murray has paid for it every since lol.

Its my understanding that there has been a lot of social media "banter" by the Murray kids about this game directed at Mayfield. Usually doesn't work out to be a good practice.
