They say he has still split the reps with Wimbush in practice this week. My guess is if this was Syracuse this week, he would have tried to give it a go. However since it's not, I think they believe they can sneak out a win in this one and give him an extra week to heal before next week.

 

I think I died a little inside reading this, knowing that the concept is that if they were playing Syracuse he might try to play, but since it's FLORIDA STATE they can win without him. What an awful year this is.

No doubt. Never thought I would ever say a team may be able to rest a guy against Florida State, to save him for the bigger game against Syracuse lol.

I posted this thread because Ian Book has a rib injury and has been ruled out of this game. ND should be just fine against a bad FSU team, but it’s definitely an interesting development.

 

In college football is their a rule if a team declares a player out before the game, that they can't change that during the game? Meaning even though Notre Dame says he isn't going to play this game. Can they dress him still, and play him in case of an emergency?

I just don’t know the extent of the injury. Is it an injury where if he played it could do more damage or is it just how much pain can he endure. These are questions I can’t answer. I’m in favor of an FBS wide injury report like the NFL for precisely this reason.

Last year with Wimbush under center the Irish averaged 35.5 points per game. This does not include the games vs. UNC (where Wimbush did not play at all due to injury) or the bowl game with LSU (Wimbush only played a little in favor of Ian Book)

The Brandon Wimbush we saw against Ball State and Vandy wasn’t very good. If that Brandon Wimbush shows up it won’t be good for ND.

Well crap. Notre Dame is going with the green jerseys tomorrow. FSU by 90.

This game scares me with Wimbush at QB. FSU has nothing to lose, and everything to gain because a lost to FSU ends Notre Dame's playoff hopes.

 

I'm guessing Notre Dame wins a close one, because the offense will struggle. Which will give the Notre Dame haters some ammo to say see this team has no business being in the playoff discussion by barely beating a bad FSU team. However IMO that is how much of a difference there is with this team with Book at QB. With Book they can run or pass, with Wimbush they are one dimensional.

Best news for FSU? Notre Dame will rock the green jerseys for this game. The history of them throwing up an L while in the green jerseys is far more storied than the long ago win over USC when they did it.

Yep the Irish are 7-6 since Dan Devine (who had them wear green for the majority of the games he coached) in green jerseys. They are just unlucky at this point. Thank goodness FSU isn't normal FSU this year.

Not a fan of the green jerseys...but oh well.

If this was a day game, I'd be more concerned. ND has played well in home night games, and I can't imagine an already disheartened FSU will be too excited playing in 20 degree weather.

 

I see a 31-13...or something around there.
