Boyle County is currently in its 56th season of football (1st season was 1963). The current record is 436 wins, 217 losses, and 7 ties (a winning percentage of 66%. Chuck Smith is in his 18th season (the 5th year of his second stint as head coach). His current record is 193 wins and 43 losses, with 6 state championships and 1 runner-up.

 

I was wondering that. Thanks for the info. Take away four seasons and the percentage would be much better.

I would've thought Beechwood was somewhere in the mix but it look like they are not.

 

Beechwood has become a great program, but it is a very old school and old football program, and they didn't truly start developing into a powerhouse until the mid to late 80s. 1984 was their first state championship. So with math over the entire existence of the program, it's not great. Now if we want to look at program's past 30 years or so, Beechwood will be somewhere near Highlands and Trinity in success as a program.

It is also worth pointing out with these that it is subject to the statistical history and record keeping of the programs to be able to keep up

 

Prime example:

Belfry is not on this list, but based off the historical data I have seen they are currently at a "minimum" of 585 wins

 

Belfry has been playing football since the mid-20's and the historical data I have seen does not really start getting accurate until the late 40's

 

From a period of time between 1925 and 1946 there are 19 seasons with less than 5 games accounted for.

 

Even assuming Belfry just averaged one win per season more than what those records show, that would be 21 more wins that would put Belfry squarely in this list. My true guess would be Belfry would be somewhere in the range of 625-640 wins if all data was accurate.

Conservatively Belfry’s wins per season would be in the 6.5 to 6.75 range. The past 50 years would be much better than the first 43 too as they were pretty bad early on.

It would be interesting to see how many schools on this list played up in class and for how many years. Of course I understand you can't play up if your school is already in the largest class.
