St. X family...am I wrong???

Featured Replies

First of all he was given the OK by coach G to wear them, secondly there has been other X stars wear different color shoes in past years' ie (white ), and who cares if they match the uniform color and they make him feel better and play better then why not!Not an issue with me I thought they were cool.

It should be an issue for you and any other fan of team unity and discipline. Maybe coach G gave his approval but I would bet a large amount that if ANY other player had shown up in those shoes he would have been told to 'get in uniform or sit and watch'. ( The other player in diff. colored shoes was the new kicker). What this is about is Glaser has spent the last 25 years preaching Band of Brothers(which is great!) and telling the boys and their parents 'it's all about team' and 'there are no stars' on this team. This allowance screams of favoritism and letting the star have his way and it should not be allowed to happen at St X. I guarantee the players noticed just like the fans. Consistency is one of the ingredients for respect and unfaltering allegeance. Glaser needs to tell Vic to get in uniform and play.

I don't like all the calls for attention at any level and I sure don't like it at X.

How do you see this as a call for attention?

I saw some kids wearing long sleeve under armour and some kids with bare arms. Are the kids with bare arms in the freezing cold saying look at me I am tough. I think not.

Coach Walsh was wearing shorts. Other coaches wore long pants or sweats. Should Coach Glaser tell Coach Walsh to get in uniform and coach. I think not.

Get over the shoes. WE ARE ST. X (gold shoes included).

I see nothing wrong with kids trying to express themselves. However it is the coaches job to inspire unity. I think it is a poor decision for a coach to let any player stick out from the rest of the team. It certainly seemed uncharacteristic coming from the St. X program.

You're kidding yourself if you don't think it was calling attention to himself.

I too was shocked by it, probably the thing I've always admired most about X was the program discipline and attention to detail. I absolutely agree that if this were a different player, he doesn't step foot on the field with bright yellow shoes.

Exactly why the gold shoes shouldn't happen! Simple as that!

Your other comparisons are not the same by any measure. If you are a Xgrad you should understand. For that matter, you don't need to be an Xgrad to appreciate the value in teaching young men the value of TEAM, not allowing this 'it's all about me' mentality.

I'll agree with you only on the fact : WE ARE ST.X

How do you NOT?

When in doubt, they say don't. And you shouldn't have this time. It appears petty and suspicious coming from a X grad who son is at T.

Vic, didn't wear those shoes for attention, he gets plenty of that..

Yes, you're right, there's a story behind those shoes, and it has nothing to do with "Look at Me".

I'm not saying I agree with everything he says and does, but you, nor I, have the right to try to squash his spirit or vigor. Talk to players, coaches or even his teachers about his team loyalty and St. X allegiance. (I bet his sons will go to X)...

Again, I agree, he has a tremendous amount of school and team spirit (he repeatedly gives others credit in his interviews after games) and I find it shameful X, T and other adults are so trivial.

I think it's funny how all the crap in this thread is actually outdrawing the number of posts in the X - H thread. Maybe some people need to check their priorities.

I appreciate those of you that attempted to help me understand [Xcard I think you may understand where I was coming from]. I should have known we'd go all over the board on this... and we did. g8db8's comment was crude and uncalled for regarding my loyalty and I have IMed him/her to share some personal thoughts. Mod.. why don't you close this as it's just not going where I thought it could.

I don't know about other people, but I can't WAIT to see what shoes Vic will be wearing this Friday!

Then why do you start threads like this? I recall another controversial thread attempt surrounding St. X and Victor Anderson you started in June "Is this a First Down or Not". That thread was closed abruptly when posters started "going where you didn't think they should". So appears you can dish it out (especially at a teenager), but .... .
