Browns Trade Carlos Hyde

They just sent him to Jacksonville for a 5th round pick. The loss of Leaonard Fournette to a pulled hamstring meant the Jaguars needed a replacement, so I guess Cleveland needed to strike while the iron was hot.

I would have preferred they kept Hyde whom I think is still a very good back. Chubb has not played much for a reason. Mainly because he doesn't protect the passer well enough yet. I suppose we'll get to see how quickly he can improve.

This also will get Duke Johnson more touches. He has complained a bit recently. I agree, they need to get him in the offensive plans. We lost several receivers and they should just line him up in the slot or use him in some other way.

Any way, Carlos Hyde has gone to warmer weather. Good timing for him.

They had one. I can't figure it is wise to get rid of Hyde before Chubb proves himself. Granted, Hyde was not setting the world on fire but that isn't only his fault.

Saw one take saying with the trade John Dorsey forces Hue Jackson to play his best players...

If you are referring to the Lesmerises article, he is a Hue hater. I think what you point out is a result of the trade rather than the reason for the trade. I doubt a GM coaches from the shadows by trading away a talented guy to force the HC's hand.

Well he’s a bad coach so....

I'm not arguing for Hue. Just pointing out that Lesmerises puts everything in a bad light regarding Hue. I find it hard to believe that a GM would trade away a talented player because he wants to control who the coach puts in the game. That doesn't make sense as the motivation for making the trade.

More like, Hyde has not been good and there arises, what GM thinks, is best trade offer he will get now or in the future. GM takes the trade believing Chubb will improve in pass blocking, blitz pick-up and whatever other deficiencies have kept him out of the lineup so far.

I do agree that Hue has been awful. I won't be surprised if he is gone at the end of the season.
