Raw's Sept. 24 episode receives lowest ever ratings

I haven't watched Raw since Summer Slam. Evidently, a bunch of others haven't either, as Monday's Raw received the lowest ratings in over twenty-five years of existence.

 

People are quick to blame Monday Night Football, as well as a number of season premieres, but this same edition of Raw last year drew 2.91 million viewers--around 19% higher than this year's 2.35 million.

 

For the second time in 2018, WWE Raw posted the lowest ratings in the show’s illustrious history. The Wrestling Observer revealed the figures, with this week’s episode garnering 2.35 million viewers over its three-hour time slot – down 12% from last week’s post Hell in a Cell pay-per-view show which drew 2.67 million. The hour-by-hour breakdown of this week’s figures is the following:

• Hour 1: 2.49 million

I'm shocked that many people still watch wrestling.

I still have it on the DVR but as a diehard fan the last five years or so I think the WWE is trying to be too many things to too many people.

 

For example, I feel like the WWE has ruined the women's division lately. Go back a few years and the women's division was hot garbage and we all know it. Then the WWE decided to add several more women to the roster, put them on TV more, actually have some quasi-meaningful story lines and I am thinking wow, this is getting pretty good.

 

Fast forward to the present and they just handed Ronda Rousey the title (that pretty much ruins her for me) and the "Bella Twins" are back so the the WWE pretty much abandoned all things they had been working on and the rest of the women just become jobbers to promote both the Bellas and Rousey.

 

They have some other bad story lines going too and way way too many titles these days.

 

I think the brand split is backfiring on them.

 

I am going to keep watching but about 50% of what I was watching.

WWE just agreed to over $2 billion worth of TV contracts over the next five years. Raw & Smackdown have been USA's two most watched shows for a while now.

Speaking of the Bella twins, I think Brie legit broke Liv Morgan's face Monday night...She has no business being on TV right now. She sucks at everything.

Seriously? I can’t remember the last time I had a face to face conversation with someone that watches WWE. I’ve personably never watched it. Is it like a closet thing that people are scared to admit they actually like or what? I’m genuinely confused how this many people watch it but yet no one talks about it.

This Bella stuff is a total disaster, their reality show is stupid, and maybe the WWE should step back and take a look at it all.

 

How do you have a reality show based on soap opera? Next you have all the superstars jumping in the sack with each other (good for them) and somehow you think that is what all of us want to see, for example, Brie and Daniel Bryan saving the world whether it is on a WWE broadcast or the fake reality show based on a fictional franchise. More and more over the last year I have been shaking my head at the WWE.

 

But hey, I am sure the shareholders are happy about the big TV contracts.

Let's not forget the Miz is great but they are ruining him too because they want to cross promote his new reality show with his 'wifey' and then we are stuck with her non-wrestling behind getting involved with feuds.

 

Lana isn't far off either, she is Paul Heyman of sorts, not a wrestler.

 

And the sad part is there are a lot of great female superstars that get pushed to the back of the line and off TV.

I love the whole Rusev/Lana Day schitk. I have a feeling it's going to go in the toilet now that English isn't with them though.

 

Can't take the Miz seriously after watching him on The Real World all those years ago.

 

Don't know anything about the Bellas and their reality show, just know she legit broke the other chick's face Monday, a week or so after botching every single spot she tried to execute.

Raw has been bad since Summerslam but I thought Monday's episode was really good overall (other than the Bella/Morgan incident).

 

I watched as a kids in the attitude era (late 90s). Didn't watch much in high school. Picked it back up for a couple years in college 2005-2008. Went on another hiatus and have been watching regularly since 2014.

USA used to be one of my regular go-to channels about a decade ago. Loved shows like Monk, Psych, Burn Notice and Royal Pains. Now, I can't tell you the last time I watched something on there. I'm curious as to what the ratings were for those shows versus what they're getting for the wrestling.
