I don’t know the answer, but even if they did, it doesn’t matter. A lot changes from MS/freshman ball to varsity.

I don’t think either team gets any good out of this game, especially Beechwood.

I'd say that it's a good prediction. With the level that Covington Catholic is playing on now, they shouldn't be playing any more.

It seems to me once CovCath embraced the spread offense they went ahead leaps and bounds of Beechwood. Much like Highlands of the mid 90s and on. When it was three yards and a cloud of dust, these teams (like most games of that style) would be closer in scoring ability.

Yes, this Beechwood senior class beat the Casey McGuiness led Covington Catholic freshman team 14-12 when they were all freshmen. This Beechwood senior class has two state championship rings and is going for a third.

 

This is where the difference between a 1A school and a large school like Covington Catholic shows up. The large schools, especially those with good football programs, get great athletes in every class. That is more hit and miss in the small schools. At Beechwood, a lot of this year's seniors started as freshmen. That probably did not happen with the current Covington Catholic seniors. If these two teams played senior class versus senior class, I strongly doubt there would be talk of a running clock.

Correction. I meant to say started as sophomores, not freshmen. Logan Castleman is the only senior who started varsity as a freshman.
