What could have been ... good first-round matchups

Featured Replies

Bottom line ... they lost by 17, at home, to a team that finished fourth in their district.

I would love to see this game played again, because I think it might be different, but it has no chance of happening! Lincoln has NO chance against the big three from Louisville and slim (if they got there), SLIM chances against Henry Clay, Scott County, Lafayette (if they get there).

I have to admit that I could switch LexCath and the Rock but my loyalty is with the Rock. Agree that JC is an unknown.

Loyalty goes out the window in rankings. Rockcastle County would struggle to defend the Lexington Catholic passing game.

I agree the Rock does struggle here same as last year but they played LexCath tough last year and I believe this Rock team is better and this Lex Cath team is not hardly as good as last year. I think it would be a tougher game this year than last.

I was at the Rock/Catholic game last year and while Rockcastle played well, the Knights were in quasi-control the entire game. It was just a matter of time. I would hope that Rockcastle County could get the victory this year, but there are major hurdles to cross before Thanksgiving Friday.

One game at a time!!!!!!!!

That seems obvious.

Westsider you seem to know a lot about eastern ky football not to have seen any of these teams play. If you think that I am so far off the mark then answer me this. Where are they ranked in the AP this week? Where are they ranked in the BGP poll? I don't think there is that much difference. You are talking about a team that has been consistantly in the regional finals, semis and championship games over the last 6-8 years. They are 9-1 this year. You tell the JC folks that they need to prove themselves but the only thing obvious here is even when a team does prove themselves it means nothing to you.

Aren't we sensitive? I said they were a top-10 team. I just don't think they're in the top half of it.

Bottom line ... what has Rockcastle done on the field to merit your top-5 ranking? Who have they beaten that says they are a top-5 team?

They have one of the top 3 RB's in 3A
I just caught this one, too. Is he better than ...

Emanual Taylor?

Avery Hibbitt?

Michael Jones?

Those guys are all in Region 1 ... I'm sure there are good backs elsewhere, too.

I am not sensitive at all. You act like it is a big stretch for them to be ranked 5th instead of 9 or 10. Your comment was "WOW" and it was obvious my loyalty had skewed my opinion. IMO it is a very tight race in 3a and several teams can make a legitimate claim to about 3-10.

You didn't say anything about statistics ... and frankly, stats don't sway me very much. I'm sure Miller is a good back, but there is much more to it than stats.

You are right nothing seems to sway you. Wins, stats, district titles, regional titles, state runner ups, 20 straight winning seasons. All these things are facts and usually they don't happen on their own. But you are going to argue your teams and backs are better than teams and backs you haven't even seen using what your opinion.

Some things sway me. Homers don't.

Twenty straight regular seasons, regional titles and state runner-up finishes mean nothing when we're discussing this year's team.

I didn't say any of those backs were better than Miller.

What have I said that can't be defended? I said Rockcastle is a top-10 team, just at the bottom part of it. You're acting like I'm denigrating the program.
